.....light brown (Daphne), brown (Ginger & Poppy), green/blue (Ivy) and blue/green (Violet). I am so happy and they seem so contented, I also found out that Poppy, my speckled Sussex is the Mama hen. She overseas everything and make announcements of what is going on in the coop. I'll enter and she'll start yammering,

so I go to the nest box and Voila! an egg. If she does the same and someone is missing, you can count on one inside the coop sitting in a nest. She is the "Hall Monitor of the Coop".

My name is Rose, and I am from Carmel. This summer I plan on starting a small flock of egg layers as a business project for my grandsons, and fun for me. I have never done any of this before and i am looking foward to the outcome. I haven't started anything yet, so any advise would be good. Im glad more people are returning to the old ways.

Welcome Rose. You found a nice place here! Ask away.....there are many well experienced people here. I am new, got mine in November but I can always tell you what works for me.

The little polish girl is standing a little more erect. Been giving her some PT every day. Until her insurance runs out......went to 3 different stores the other day looking for vitamins . For something like infant vitamins they would keep the shelves stocked.
Worked in the yard all day today. Had my little silkies that followed me home from the conference out for most of the day. They are the cutiest little things. Their toes still freak me out though .
Have a Happy Easter everyone.

Time for a rant.... The more I use that book " the chicken health handbook" the more I think it sucks....
If my husband doesnt order a poultry reference book soon I'm going to scream.
I think come Monday I'm going to call his hospital administrator and have him order one but send it to me....
I'm going to tell him it's my anniversary present...better than flowers
OK I'm done now....

Carol, you can use the store brand of liquid children vitamins w/o iron. Any brand will do, no need to hunt for PolyViSol. Also, the cheap CVS or Rite Aid Vit E will work as long as you buy the liquid gels.

Here is one of my favorite references ---> http://partnersah.vet.cornell.edu/avian-atlas/
Also, the online Merck Vet Manual is excellent.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I'm finally back on BYC!!

PLUS, I've just (between yesterday and today) read several hundred pages. I've missed you all SO MUCH!!!!

My life has been like one big box of chocolates (the ones you have to bite into only to find out you don't like orange creme with your chocolate) but, finally, I am back to somewhat normalcy, PLUS, a new computer!! Apparently both my hard drives burned up within 24 hours of each other because of silly games my kids play when I'm not looking, I LOST my phone, and only had my ipad for awhile, which tapatalk didn't work on, and when I tried to go onto the regular site-it killed my eyes, and I couldn't read anything.

My husband was acting like a nut for about a month and a half, so until he got his head back on straight, getting a new computer was out of the question (remind me to get a job, so I have my own money...yeah, when my kids are old enough to handle life without me available every minute)

OH LORD! I MISSED YOU GUYS!!!!
