So, I wander out to the girls this afternoon, looking for some eggs. I am met with "errrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrr" and a HUGLY puffed up BO named Lovey. I fell backwards out of the house and almost landed on poor nervous Diva.

I suspected she was going broody when her hackles went up yesterday when I went into the hen house. I had NO clue "broody" looked so darned scary. She let me reach under her, and there's 2 eggs under there-one must belong to someone else, and I felt so bad for her I just left them there. What do I do now? She hasn't moved all day!

I'm not at all certain I needed this today, but heck-here it is. Do you think I should get her fertilized eggs to hatch, or will she just stop at some point?

On a lighter note.......
My rescue silkie "Brooklyn" laid her first egg! Nice brown tint. 2 days in a row.
She is still living inside with us (vacationing in a pen outside on nice days)but hopefully that changes this week. She is a sweet bird and I am so glad we adopted her.

Enjoy the sun if you have some today!

Maggie she's so cute! I'm so glad you rescued her. :)

Oh my, broodiness is so much fun! Not. You could totally get her eggs to hatch, or put chicks under her in the nighttime.

SQUEE! I have babies!!!

Three little Ameraucanas named Hershey, Phyllis and Mabel. I have a brooder pen set up in an extra-large portable dog kennel (the kind with solid sides and bottom).
I was planning to keep them in the garage but that big grump of a husband I have insisted they would be too cold ;) so they're actually in the corner of my living room. I caught him snuggling one and singin to it earlier. Lord knows I can't tell out mutual friends but you guys are fair game.

1st step of my chicken journey has been taken!

I'd say if your husband is singing to the chicks, you're a lot farther along on your chicken journey than the first step!
