Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Heading out east with my friend today to the wholesale nurseries. This is always trouble.i need another plant like I need another chicken.i constantly remind Richard that at least it's not diamonds.
Oh, I'm a plant hoarder. It's bad. My husband was relieved when I gave some away to a friend when she bought a new house...but then I started re-stocking. I lost a lot when we lost power from Sandy,(I think they got cold and too dry from the fireplace going non stop for 12 days with no moisture.) so I've just purchased a few small ones. My newest favorite is the peace lily. So easy to keep and so pretty! you must post pictures and tell us what you got!

Now I'm getting the plant itch.

Sounds like fun to me! I had bought 2 butterfly bushes and a trumpet vine a few weeks ago and they all show some leaves on the little stems. Can't wait to get them planted outside.
I'm so jealous! I have hardly any sunny patches in my yard, and the ones I have I use for vegetables. I wish I could have some pretty flowery bushes! I was hopefull the blizzard would take out a few trees...it only killed 3 enormous rhododendrons. Of course the FLOWER bushes.

Ok you all may have guessed that I am also reading the Texas board right now, which of course is nowhere near as wonderful as our little corner of BYC, but there are some nice/cool people there too. One woman and her husband are in the midst of building a Western town of coops. It is just about the most creative thing I have seen in ages and makes me smile every time I read about their updates. I thought you would all get a kick out of it:

They are building a hotel (5 cluck rating! Eggcellent accommodations!) a saloon, and of course sadly "boot hill" for those that don't make it.

I drew a picture of Walter's Hot Dog stand in Mamaroneck as a coop and I think I may have to go through with it. Now if only I could build as well as I bake!

That's SO CUTE!! What a heck of an idea! I can't wait to see it when it's done!

Two of my most favorite gardens in my yard are shade gardens.i not only love color but texture. I have recreated the small shade garden twice for friends. It's only 3x15. We'll have to talk. Off to PT.

Hey y'all. Can I ask you all for a favor? My sweet kitty still hasn't urinated on his own, and may need another surgery to remove his penis. (make him a "girl") and this news has completely brought me to my knees at this point. Can I ask you for some prayers, thoughts, and/or good vibes. I feel quite like a salmon swimming against the tide right now, and it's awful.

Thanks in advance!

Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry for all this stress and turmoil and troubles; for you, for your family and for that kitty. Sending you every good wish and hope for a good outcome and QUICKLY! (Whenever our black lab got sick all I could tell myself over and over was that if bad sickness had to hit this house, better the dog than the people!) Not sure if that's "politically correct" or even an acceptable thing to think, but it worked for me, and I'm sharing it with you.)

It's about right, though. I'm grateful and blessed that it's not one of the people in the family. It's true, no matter how we look at it. I feel awful because he's in such pain, but he can be fixed, so if it's to be, it will be.

Thank you, Carolyn!!!
