well that is ShiRt. Can u send a picture? I'm having a hard time uploading photos for some reason for over a week now to, this site.

Bryan, sorry you lost the 2babies. It's more than likely the stress from the shipping. Just make sure the others are drinking. For the first couple of days I used an eye dropper and tuberculin suringe to make sure they were getting enough water. Good luck

Hi all. I'm sad. My sister and niece went back to tucson today after a 3 week stay

My baby chicks are doing well. One of my CL, a girl I named little bit, is so small. She is 1/2 the size of the other 2. I'm worried about her. I have her inside with my one blue Ameraucana chick that's a week younger than her and already bigger. She does eat. I hand feed her scrambled eggs and stuff trying to fatten her up.
Going to get 8lbs of cucumbers from my farm CSA today to make pickles. Never made them before but figured I give it a try.
I just made pickles yesterday for the first time and it was so much easier than I expected...had a blast and can't wait to try them. Post the recipe you decide to use please :) I found one online that had good reviews but would love to experiment. I tossed some hot peppers in one of my jars and onions in one. My father is getting those jars. I did a total of 12 jars and will most likely bring a few to my food swap as long as I like how they come out. I was shocked to return from the wedding and find around seven pounds of cucumbers ready for picking and a ton more growing. Hopefully these turn out yummy

as my husband is a pickle freak.
Just found two of the meat chicks dead. I do not know what happened, earlier today they all seemed fine.

The heat haa been brutal here. Lost 2 girls this weekend, and I found Necklace dead this morning. She has always had egg laying issues, but when I opened her up, she had peritonitis.
I also found a stainless screw in her gizzard, if Gene is missing any hardware....

That's wild! My jaw is dropped wide open in amazement. I'm sure that I've dropped a screw or two while rehanging the winter tarps around the ChickArena every autumn. How incredible that she would eat it!!! Her "sister" formerly known as "Not Necklace", and now called Pinky, is still doing fine and regularly laying big pink eggs about four times a week. She's definitely the Alpha-Big-Boss-Chicken here. The two little ones that you brought here are still giving me lovely blue eggs. Rumpy and Smoke. Smoke is the lowest in pecking order and some days I fence her off for ten minutes so she can eat in peace. Sorry you lost those hens. Laverne and Shirley are still fine. Still will hop up on my lap the minute I sit down in their yard.
Stay cool if you can.

Ball has a soft cover recipe book out I bought and it's worth the $9.99 it cost many times over. It has so many ways to jar your garden goods, plus meats and much much more. Get it, you won't be disappointed! Cause once you get the idea of how the process works, adding your own twist is a lot of fun.

I bought it last year when everyone was talking canning.....and proceeded to lose it in the house someplace.....when construction ends I might find. It.

Yeah, stress, or (In all seriousness) they crushed each other. Meat chickens aren't like layers, they tend to crowd each other like a mosh pit if one goes after a crumble-they all charge at that crumble.

I will do meatys again, but honestly, they were rather nightmarish.
