Hi irischick. Yeah mr roo is not crowing all the time. I can have a roo here as long as the neighbors don't complain. Just don't want that to happen. He maybe going to freezer camp.
How do you put your location on that long island map?
Lindy Chick - where do you buy your feed? I'm in West Islip and drive out to Hay Loft in East Islip.
I am not sure if you need to be signed into google maps to do it or not, but essentially you click "edit" and then click the pin to add a placemark. Just be careful not to edit or remove anyone else's placemarks (I do it by accident sometimes myself). How do you put your location on that long island map?

I am going to bulk grain since I am expanding. Right now I use almost 1.5 ton a year and I am doubling my flock next year, so I am getting one of those poly hoppers so it stays good and dry. If I can find a few people to go in on it with me and do 3 deliveries a year, it should stay pretty fresh. It will save me a small fortune. You really do have to have a proper way to store it though, so either many rotating containers or a hopper.Welcome JD, and Iris if I haven't said so before...
JD how many birds do you plan on having?
I know you old timers that's hysterical...
I'm asking 'cause storing bulk grain makes me nervous. Sorry thats the microbiologist in me.
I don't know where you are in relation to Chester NY but there is a Tractor supply there. Jersey hen and I have made that our own personal chick swap pull-off. They'll have organic.
Christina my first part of my Burpee shipment arrived yesterday. I search through seed stock and have it with me at the show. If you change your mind and need a place to crash my offer still stands.
I buy my feed at Neptune feed in Calverton area. I'm already buying horse grain anyway there, my horses are in Manorville. They have purina and southern states feed. Shirley feed in Shirley on Montauk highway carries, purina, blue seal feed and nutrena usually. I don't go in there much if find the place a lil creepy. How do you put your location on that long island map?

The purina feed is expensive isn't it? How much per 50lb bag if you don't mind me asking?I buy my feed at Neptune feed in Calverton area. irischick- did you get the rainbow layer surprise special from McMurray. That's where I got mine from. My exotic is my roo I think. mostly got brown leghorns some EE, 3 white leghorns and 1 golden comet. Mr. roo was brought inside today crowing better and louder. He's such a nice big respectful boy I hate to part with him. I think I may have an indoor friend now.
