Naw, we get what you are saying. Hard when your fingers are flying over the keys sometimes. i usually use preview before hitting submit. Saved me from making a fool of myself a few times. I just had to fix a few words on this one too.

Hey Vanessa! Where in Brooklyn? I am from Sheepshead Bay originally for 25 years, just moved up to Putnam County in 2004.

Hi CatsCrazyCoop,

Williamsburg. How do you like Putnam County? Actually, I am tired of city life. I want to move after my son go to college (next year).

Hi Al,

How does the new feed work for your hens (countryside organics)? I need to find a way to avoid paying so high shipping. Megan is not responding to her calls and emails regarding the feed at all. I don't understand:(

Vanessa, I sent Megan an email about a week ago inviting her to BYC and this thread. I did not get an answer either. I hope she is alright. This would be a perfect place for locals to get lined up with her for feed.

I just got my second bag of layer from them yesterday. I love it, and so do the girls, which is more important than me liking it. They are eating like hogs the past 4 or 5 days for some reason. And I have let them out to free range for an hour or so each day. the three that are laying are doing so consistently now. Got 3 more eggs today. The others should start soon.

I get it within 2 days of ordering and the $16.50 shipping isn't bad on a bag that costs $23.50 because I have to pay $30 for organic feed with soy in it from one supplier locally. With the gas I burn it comes out close to the same, and the Countryside Organics looks like real grain, because it is. It is not pelletized and is only minimally cracked. I am sticking with it because of all the good things I have heard about it and the way our girls devour it.

It's getting stormy here right now. Should be going from a light rain to a downpour soon. We need the rain desperately up here.

Al

Onto another topic. Silkies, pone pf my favorite si;;ly breeds.

My silkie [pullet is laying me an egg every day thios week. So many web siotes and catalpogs get dopwn pn si;lkioes fopr npt being a [roductive bird. I have loved to [rove them, wrong. Anyand all of mine were very de[endable egg ;ayers cp,me cold pr heat. I can always count on seeing their eggs once they get to layinmg. Not big ones of course, but their consistency has always amazed me.
Any other opinions on silkies out there?

Hi Al,

I guess she is very busy because she actually answered my second call and said she was busy at the moment and would call me back in an hour, but she never did. I contacted the Countryside Organics and they told me a pallet shipping will be around $100 for 44- 50lb bags. In that way, the shipping cost for each bag of the feed will be very low. I wish I know more people in my area so we could order together as I give up on trying to contact Megan.

However, recently I notice that my hens eat feathers fell on the ground and they fight over it. I check it online, people say that it is protein deficiency. That worries me a little as I looked up some other brands feed for grower, their protein percentage are higher than Countryside organics.

Congratulations on your eggs. I am jealous! :) I hope my hens will start to lay eggs soon. how old are those three hens of yours which are laying eggs now? mine are about 12 weeks old.

We had some rain yesterday and today. I hope it is raining as you wished there.
