Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Sunday afternoon I bragged, still had power. HAH went out, didn't get it back till Wed. Some of the kids I work with still no power on Fri. Still cleaning up the downed trees & branches today. I'm tired of this!

Dude, both coops are excellent. You have a way with wood. Glad you posted the pics. This chicken stuff becomes an obsession.

Glad to hear You did not insulate and had no problems. I am still toying with the idea but probably will not insulate. Our girls had a hard time with the heat this summer but they are supposed to be cold hardy, so it might be a waste to insulate anyway.

Are you going to use the kennel structure with this coop as well?

There is no end to the aftermath of Irene. Sorry you had to get stuck without power so long. Friends of ours in CT just got theirs back last night. Can't imagine the damage had this storm been a CAT1 or 2.

Thanks I really enjoy building especially chicken coops. It saves a ton of money when you do it yourself. your birds will be fine in the winter. The key is plenty of ventilation and I do mean plenty but it has to be draft free. Keep the ventilation high and away from the roost and you will do just fine. As for the kennel run. That is still set up and I have plans on getting 25 meat birds in the late spring.

No coop for sale yet. Lol. Maybe someday. As for now just wanted a bigger coop that was set closer to the house. I'm trying to make it easier to care for them. The smaller one with the dog kennel is in the back yard and with all the snow last year it was very hard to keep a clear path.
