It's really STICKY out there right now. Supposed to rain, but I work in a building with no windows, and rarely get to take lunch, so I'm pretty oblivious to the rain. UGH

Unfortunately, this is what's wrong with America today. Don't even get me going! One of the things I am known to say...

Yes, they built them to last back then.
Mine still has the original plaster walls and the original wide wood floor boards. 5 fireplaces.The house actually stands on tree trunks! Leveled out on top of beach sand. Oyster shells are everywhere you dig. We had the best oyster industry around till the water became poluted around the turn pf the century. That and ship building/repair were our main industries.Oh, and brick making.I love it here. Makes you think you aren't living in NYC at all.
Check out this book sometime. "Tottenville The Town the Oyster Built" It excites me to say my old house and it's history are briefly described on it.

I think along the same lines Al. I am now determined to become even more earth friendly and to also make changes to better [provide some basics for my family.
I now am gardening more, putting up my own veggies/jams/preserves/composting and catching rain water to reuse. I am playing round with bee keepiong but am unsure how my closest neighbors might not like that idea.
Next year I will plan an even better garden and make use of the property I am so gratefull to have now. I want a horse but am bumping onto brick walls because pf the costs involved.
