Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I got yelled at today , "if any more eggs show up they are going in the garbage "
Oopsie.

Got my cream legbar eggs (6)
Mottled Java eggs (7)
Plus my Appen spitz (6) from yesterday

I only have room for 12 more in my brinsea, but the
Styrofoam one is supposed to be here today.

I'm really in trouble if I win the bids on 12 welsummer
and 6 Barnevelder. I only did a low bid. No one else has
bid on them. 2 more days to go.

I got yelled at again by saying " but I thought we are moving
upstate" haha.

We might be, but we didn't even go look at houses yet.

Abi & I were going but her daughter is due around that time so I dont know if I want to take that ride myself. I cant wake up at 2 am & drive like I used to so not sure. I'll think about it
I plan on going to NJ and If my husband lets me take his volvo I'll have room if you would like to hitch a ride? My friend I went to the CT show with doesn't know if she's going yet. I live in East Islip.

I wanted to go to the show, but I didn't plan well,
will have eggs hatching.

I got my farm inovators styrofoam incubator !
I don't like it at all compared to my brinsea.
But I'm outa room and outa money so ....
Its plugged in and I'm getting it stabilized.
Will set the eggs tomorrow.

I seriously need to call my shrink. This is WAY
past normal. I can't even keep these babies.

I'm such a wiseguy, I'd say "I thought YOU were moving upstate". Bobby's just doing a good job on the coop in case I make him move out there.

I cried over the bad hatch. He said "You can get more eggs and try again." I pointed to the 6 on the dining room table. He just rolled his eyes...

Started the pouch, but it's sort of flesh colored so it looks like a pastey. Or one of those hats for nursing babies.

(Could fit a few Jersey Giants in there, huh?)

That is hysterical! Where were those hats when I was nursing? Hilarious!

Yikes! I just got home from picking up various kids from various sports at various schools. Go to check up on the babies and they are all wet!! The shavings that they kick around must have gotten into the waterer and all the bedding was soaked!!! Ugh. Had to clean it up and my poor tiny silkies looked so pathetic. The silver one, Karma, looks no worse for the wear, but the even tinier Zen looks miserable. I feel so bad!!! I hope she'll be ok after drying off under the heat lamp!! The older girls all look fine just a little freaked out by mommy scooping all that wet bedding out with paper towels.
I could cry. My poor babies.

Yeeeeeeooooooowwww! Looks like I've missed something the past day or so. This should generate male attendance to the thread. LOL.

Thanks, Suzanne. Where do you find these pics?

Wow, that Beanie is a riot! Rofl! I did a double-take! Luckily I wasn't drinking a beverage!

Anyways, not to change the subject...but..

Hi, I'm new to the boards been building a coop and searching the net for info and Google always seemed to lead me back to BYC. So instead of just poking around I decided to join.

I'm in Sullivan County NY, in the Catskill Mtn area near the old Catskill getaway 'The Nevele'.

No chickens yet, still building a coop.

Welcome to the thread! Near the Nevele - Ellenville, right? My family had a cabin in Callicoon when I was little. Love that area!

We're not always this outrageous. Sometimes we just get into these crazy discussions. I'm sure you've checked out the coops page. I started a page for the coop my boyfriend is building in our backyard. We're almost finished - I haven't updated the pictures in a while. I got lots of great ideas from the coop designs here on BYC - just tweaked them to my own preference. Like I use plastic "underbed" containers under the roosting bar to catch the poop. Real easy to just dump them into the composter.

What breeds are you considering?
