That's just wrong. Is it even summer yet?

We have 5 now running and need more. I need zoned central air installed in this old house. I do not know how people lived here in these big old homes with no AC period. Wonder if the murder rates went up back in those days.

Seems to me NY is getting hotter each summer and I can't take it anymore.

poor broody mommas on nests in this heat. The sole egg (out of 4 set) hatched today and when I went in the nest the chick was dead. Not sure if it died or if the hen killed it. Either way, this hen will never be allowed to set eggs again (she let another hen in her nest and she broke 2 eggs, then momma hen broke an egg, and now she apparently committed chickocide). Last broody of the season is due to hatch her eggs in 10 days. I hope she does a better job.

I came home the other day to find 4 new birds (3 hens and a rooster). Apparently my uncle decided he can no longer keep them and they left them in my yard to range with my flock. They didn't even consider the fact that I would have quarantined them.

They are nearly feral. That rooster has to go. He is a huge PBR mix (I think). The white leghorn he dropped off will go in to lay eggs and then goes out into the trees at night. Silly bird. She is going to get eaten by that fox for sure. I sure as hell am not trapsing about the woods in the near darkness trying to get her down. The other two are nearly as flighty. If my flock gets sick I will be furious.

silly man.............

Within 1 week I called him to come and pick them up cause they were creating mayhem. Feral is a good word. Escape artists another good term. NOT friendly.

I love this panel! Was it something you got at a local fabric store, or a special order that I will lose interest in trying to find it?
Its an applique quilt table runner. I bought the instructions from someone on line. I'll have to check from where.
