Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I would also suggest that you get a hunting license and a bear permit. If you get accused of poaching who knows what level of crime that is. It could impact your plans to enlist later on. Just being practical.

Caleb, we have had a lot of bear activity on this side of the hill as well. I am going to keep bear spray on me from now on. My hubby keeps the 306... fish and game doesn't want to hear about the bears until there is damage to person or property. We have had them hold us hostage when they decide to nap in the yard.

We have a tornado just down the road in hainesville. Contemplating going in the basement, not sure since you are so not supposed to be on concrete in an electrical storm. Lot's of groundstrike lightening tonight. We are under a warning for another 15 min or so.

I feel bad for our hen daisy. She has not been well so i removed her from the flock and she hid herself under the deck. I couldn't get her out of there tonight so she is out in this crazy weather. Poor thing. I hope she is ok. She should be dry and safe unless we have a ground flood.

Lilly and i started homeschooling today. We had a really good time. I hope it works for us since NJ won't let her register.

Jeez, Caleb. I'd listen to Al's gun advice. Mama bears are nasty!! I'm really glad you're ok.

Chicken feed is becoming as expensive as Lobster for chickens! But comparatively, my cockatiel's food is 10 bucks for 5 pounds, so I guess the chickens are still rather cost effective. Now I'm wondering why I'm paying so much to feed a bird that draws blood every single day when I feed him.

My chickens don't draw blood either. Hmmmm.

When's the last time you had a cockatiel egg for breakfast?

I don't know, I'm watching my chickens devouring the cherry tomato bonanza explosion that is the side garden, guess I'll be saving money on feed for them at least for today. I do need to get more though, I'll let you all know what the costs are up in Bedford, NY.

Janey's report on kindergarten: It was too short. So I think we are ok as far as adjusting goes. ;)

Yay Jane!!

You are a braver woman than I, Christine... I love my kids but not enough to be their teacher too. It's enough fun drilling good manners into them!

Hope that Daisy is ok! Tornados are frightening, goodness. Take pics if there's anything cool

I wonder if I could borrow Caleb's bear to exterminate my rats. Today's agenda: coop cleaning and rat patrol. In the rain. Could be worse. Could be working.
Happy hunting! The last 3 nights the raccoons have been fighting and screaming and partying in my yard. It sounds like bar-room brawling!! It's actually funny because I open the back door and yell "Shut up!" and they do!! (until someone else starts doing shots or whatever they're doing out there) They scare the daylights out of me, I can't imagine how the girls must feel listening to them.

My middle son starts school football today, then goes straight to PAL ball. I love football, but this is going to be a hat trick-oldest son at football (he helps out) youngest son gets off the bus around the same time too. Husband is working in the Bronx (FD) until 6.

If he tells me what kind of great meal he had, I swear I'll throttle him.

Oh good-the pouring rain just started. Can I just go back to bed?
