Now I can't wait for chicks...I need help. Youse peeps are BAD INFLUENCES!!!

My daughter found an injured field mouse, and begged me to help it, so now it seems we have a pet mouse with no use of it's back legs. Of course it's nasty as a snake, terrified and all (I'm betting a cat got him) and I'm feeding him chicken feed and water through a syringe. This kid is ME, 30 years ago. He's really cute, which is working in his favor, with his big ears and eyes and soft grey fur. I told her, he's not going to make it if he can't use his legs, but I can't see any harm in allowing her to try. He's not in pain-just irritated that we keep bugging him.

I swear if he spontaneously heals and escapes in my house-I'll just die. Right now he's just hanging in a cat carrier, and she is forbidden to touch him without gloves.

If he survives the night. We'll have to name him.

Anyhow,i met up with Suzanne yesterday and we had a wonderful cuppa coffee! Everyone I meet from here is so nice and sweet. I'm so glad I found all of you.

My son had his cast off today, he's feeling great, and the doctor told him no football playing (I kind of encouraged this out of the poor doctor) but that come November he CAN start wrestling season with everyone else.

Now I just hope my middle son gets cleared from his concussion and we're back in business.

I want to thank everyone for their well wishes for my nephew.
He is ok, he has been staying with friends. He had a fit
because his parents have been after him to get a job or go to
school. He is 20 and has been sitting around the house for 2 years
doing nothing. They gave him slack because about 3 yrs ago he
ended up in child pych for 2 months, but they knew he had to get back
out into the workd. Anyways he called his mom to say he got a job as
a short order cook. He always talks about going to culinary school. He just
doesn't have the confidence right now to go, maybe his new job will give
him that. Hopefully he will go back home soon. I don't like the friends he is
with, drinking and drugs etc.

Oh, I'm SO, SO, SO, happy that he's ok. Whew!!
Good luck to him with his new job. (Oh, my; so relieved that he's ok.)

I'm very glad to hear that your nephew is ok. Sounds like he is still a little "lost", and hope he finds his path soon. If he likes his new job, he could end up attending the Culinary Institute of America which is right down the street from where I live. You never know!

Thanks so much for inquiring about the CL's. I attempted to call Greenfire today, but they limit their contact to email or snail mail, so I didn't get anywhere. Since your CL eggs are from NPIP sellers, I should be OK getting chicks from you. For my NPIP certification, I might need a copy of the sellers NPIP paperwork. Please put us down for 1-2 girls (and possibly a roo....not sure about that yet). I may also be interested in Ameraucanas, especially if they are gentle, friendly birds and come from blue eggs. Thanks! Tina

I'm hoping that both of your boys heal fast! My son had a severe concussion during his senior year of high school while playing for his Europe travel team. Very scary!

Thank you! My oldest son feels great now that the cast is off-3 weeks until he can play gym. He's a happy guy. My middle son wants to know if there's any way he can practice the computer test he has to take to get the ok to play football again. It's the reaction time thing-no way to study up.

So we just have to cross our fingers...

Well, the little mouse survived the night. He's eating chicken scratch and drinking water. he's sitting up, although his hind legs still aren't really working. He's totally adorable, now that he's rested and has eaten. I told my daughter we'll make him a little cart using a hot wheels car...She thinks it's a silly idea.

It's a gloomy day, so food shopping and cleaning will be on my list for the day. I may really go wild and take a nice nap.

I have no motivation to do much of anything, so the nap might come first as soon as the littlest one is on the bus.

Yes Rosie, it sure is a foggy gloomy day down here as well. Cooking and cleaning sounds like a good plan. A nap sounds even better.

Hi All. Had an amazing talk with my Mom last night. She's a tough old bird!

I have a wicked headache this morning. I'm trying to put off taking anything to see if moving around, showering, etc. will get rid of it. I just finished putting up the last of the big batch of pumpkin butter. I have to clean the coop and then off to run a couple of errands before tutoring at 5. Having a headache does NOT help!

I think I'm gonna join the granny square swap. Sounds like fun.

I'm so glad she's going to make her own and your life easier. It's so hard to change at any age.
