How long were they in transit for? Six months?! This seems unusual... they aren't chicks are they? I dunno, I'm concerned that a breeder would ship anything that was already doing poorly. Hmph.
The birds are now drinking and eating. My daughter just made them a "pizza" with layers of Flockraiser, Black Oil Sunflower seeds, Poultry Conditioner and probiotics on a plate. We think the splash boy (who was passing blood) may have had a stroke. These 4.5 month old birds were all perfectly healthy when shipped. They should have arrived w/in 24hrs(as guaranteed) but didn't get put on the proper flights. They spent Thurs, Fri and Sat with no water. The breeder has never had this happen before. What a shame that this occurred...
Carol, do you know if it's possible to give a subcutaneous injection of fluids to re-hydrate these birds? If so, what size needle should I buy and would sterile saline work?
