Suzanne glad your daughter is OK.
My email is [email protected]
If anyone needs help just let me know.
My girls have been acting very strange all day (stranger) this morning when I went to let them out they were all hiding behind the little tykes coop. The little girls never get anywhere near the big ones.
Al glad you checked in.
Be safe everyone...
oddly mine did the same. All hung out together big and small.....by the pen door looking at me and wining.Kinda saying "whats happening mommy". Poor babies..........

Yesterday, as we were prepping for the hurricane, I convinced my husband to make new feeders for our coop. I am totally thrilled with them! We used the design on this site ---> www.the-chicken-chick.com with a very slight modification. I now have feeders that hold 3+ days of food for our egg laying flock and almost 6 days worth for the silkies (since they eat less). I also have neat oyster shell dispensers too. These are freeing up so much floor space and are so easy to top off with feed. I love these!

VERY clever!!

Been up since 2 . Too tired to knit but not enough to sleep. Want to make coffee but the noise will wake Richard.
He has several surgeries today and has to go check on things. Several practices had moved all their animals to his practice. He usually takes the beach road but thats not happening today. The surgeons meeting was cancelled so no knitting weekend for me.
Stay safe everyone

Good morning all! I've been up since about 3. This storm is interrupting my sleep. Something must be done about this! The trees blowing around are very loud (especially when you're listening for it)

Dan just left for work, so I'm busily cleaning up the first breakfast round. Schools are closed, so I'm hoping the kids stay in bed for awhile! I'm going to bring in more wood I think, to avoid it getting soaked. My tenant just left as well, I hope she's careful-she works at St Charles, and most of Port Jeff harbor is shut down and evacuated...

I had my middle son, Joe there just yesterday-badly swollen finger-the PA thinks it's broken, I agree, but the x-rays were not very sharp due to the enormous swelling. SO-Football season is officially over for my sons. Which is ok at this point-too many injuries this year. I'm ready for wrestling season...Oldest son's on JV, Joe is in middle school team, and My little guys first year! My daughter is also the manager of the JV and V teams and I get into the fundraising and other stuff, so it's a family thing!

I am waiting for first light, so I can fill up the girls food and water, and make sure they have nice fresh hay and shavings. I'm going to worry about them. I hate the fact that they will be so scared by things hitting the roof of the coop, and I can't explain or comfort them. Well, Hopefully the plywood will keep them safe, and I'm sure they'll just sleep and eat the time away.

What can I give them to keep them busy? I have a kitty "Busy ball" that you put treats in. Maybe filled with vegetables....

is everyone battened down and ready? Landfall is supposed to be around 4pm, stores are still open this morning out here-I know I don't need anything, but why do I feel compelled to go? I won't of course, but I'm really antsy. Jumpy, I need to DO something. I'm gonna go do the wood. Maybe that will calm me down.

I feel exactly like that smilie.

I'm up waiting for the shiRt to hit the fan also...
The bridges are closed. We are trapped here!
Agonizing as to whether to take out the garbage.
Like I want that in my garage for another few days

I know the feeling. Mine is outside wedged between my husbands work trailer and the side of the house. Any more garbage will have to stay inside. I guess on the enclosed porch. I can visit it when I go out there to get firewood.

Just wanted to say I will be thinking of you all, as the storm approaches. This one may be different, but you all sound very prepared, so I hope you can now sit back and enjoy the show. Storms are such a display of Nature's power, and an opportunity for a different, old time life style.

In the 90s we had a huge Micro burst storm in Syracuse. It was very sudden, no warning, and it looked like someone had made a giant salad in the city using whole trees, big old ones. The national guard was brought in and was working on my street. Travel was impossible for a couple of days. I sent my teenaged son out to help neighbors. We were without power for a week, so no lights, no oven, but we could shoer and cook on the stove. The evening we got our power back my sons were sorry it was over. They had enjoyed the experience of living in a different way. It is one of those events that will always be a memory.

I hope that you will all be safe, but be able to look back in the future to a time of triumph of preparedness and adaptability, and a unique time. You are all such smart and special people, be safe, and I look forward to the stories in the future.

I put a whole load of dried leaves into the run to give them something to play with. They love digging in them and kicking them around.
