Hi there. I have a sweet new button quail. It hatched with Splayed leg. We've tried the band aid trick, sponge, the straw and rubber band. Nothing is working and the poor stressed thing doesn't want to eat or drink now. Any ideas.to help would be great!! Our main enemy is size. Stuff that works.for chickens, cockatiels, etc is hard on a baby button. They are quarter size

Hi @Ysabel180 :frow Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos of your Sweetie?
If the legs are splayed have you tried using Vet Wrap? It may be a little easier to use.
Tutorial in this link https://the-chicken-chick.com/spraddle-leg-in-baby-chicks-what-is-it/
Once you wrap the legs into position, you may want to place her in a chick chair - see if that makes her more comfortable.

I'm sorry that she is stressed and not wanting to eat/drink now. If you have Poultry Nutri-Drench give her 1-2drops directly once a day.
Sometimes splayed leg can be an indicator that something else is going on, a chick may fail to thrive.
Hopefully you will be able to fix the legs though.

Thank you .I will get some of that, do you think she will be ok through the night? I've got her/him to sip a bit of water. :( We just hatched this morning. I'll look up a chick chair tutorial and try that too!! Thank you so much for the help.

Honestly I don't know if she will make it through or not.
All you can do is keep trying:hugs

Thank you. We had to rig a tiny little chair out of a Tupperware smidget and cotton balls and painters tape .lol we sipped and pooped. I am crossing everything. Thank you. I sure appreciate all help. Whether we make it or not, I am happy knowing I did all I could for this little one.

Do you have any photos of you chick and chair you would like to share?

We made it through the night, we were crying so much less. I have high hopes!! Here are it's little siblings cuddling it's chair. I cannot thank you enough for such a great idea.

Glad you both made it through the night:hugs

Hopefully this will allow your little one time to heal and she will gain some strength.
Take her out occasionally (I'm sure you are doing that) and give her break from the chair.

So cute!:love

We are stretching now and I'm amazed at home much better already she's getting around!! My heart is soaring! Thank you so much for the encouragement, the advice and the hugs. All were very much needed!!
