Spring Granny Square Swap

I'm glad to hear we have people dropping in. It scared me for a while, but we have a lot of others that haven't checked in like sunny dawn for one. I am getting all my e-mails from everyone on other sites but just not BYC so don't think that's the cause is from the solar flareups.

It would be nice if everyone would check in that's on the list so I know who all is with us. Glad to hear blocks are being made though. Keep up the good work.

Hey Everyone~

It has been very difficult for me to post the past few months b/c I have been having internet issues. The first time I called about the issue they thought my phone filters that block internet interference were bad, so I went out and bought new ones to replace on all the land lines. That wasn't the answer. When I plugged my wireless modem & phone into the Y jack w/ the filter on it my modem wouldn't work at all. So naturally I just went without a landline on my main level and plugged my modem directly into the phone jack, but that was sketchy service. If I logged on it would bump me off before I could finish a post and I'd have to unplug and replug a million times a day to reset the modem. Then my upstairs landline wasn't working at all. After calling ATT and talking to someone in India running test on my lines twice then I finally got to talk to a local agent and they FINALLY sent someone out here last week to fix the issue. I guess a squirrel or some kind of critter damaged the wire under ground. So now my upstairs landline is fine and my internet is working, but still can't get the phone & internet to work by using the Y cable. I guess I might need a new one of those. Geeze!

Ok, now I'm rambling... So that's one of the reasons why I haven't posted much recently.

Now I have to get use to the new set up of the forum. I haven't had a lot of time to cruise around on it.

Now it looks like you can hit subscribe right above the post, so maybe that will help everyone find the thread. I wasn't receiving any notices either, but I did receive e-mails if someone sent me a message to my inbox. I just hit subscribe, so I'll see if I get any kind of notifications now.

Does anyone have any pics to post of their squares??? I haven't started mine yet, b/c I've been swamped. As soon as I knock out a few more projects & taxes then I can focus on them.

Just wanted to check in and let you know why I've been kind of missing in action.
Good night all~

The truth? I've only done one square. Been lazy and busy too. Just not in the mood to crochet. I'm such a procrastinator. I plan to do some today though. My family is not amiable to my stuff laying around. I like to leave it where I'm working and then I can pick it up when the mood strikes. Hopefully before DW does. Creative people are never neat.

I volunteer on MTW and am too , double dog tired to do much else those days. Except feed and water chickens and collect eggs, of course.

There's always plenty needs doing around here. Just not stuff I want to do.

Fold towels or look at a magazine? Tough choice huh? All right I'll do the towels first. You ladies happy now?

Good garden o' peas, but am I the only one who finds day time TV sucks?

Ok that's enough to let you know I'm still kickin'.

Hey Betty & Crochet Friends~

I just wanted you & all our crochet friends to know that Sunny Dawn is around and still planning on participating in the Spring Swap, but has been through a difficult, unexpected time recently. Her mom was rushed to the hospital on Jan 24th and from there they found she had metastasized pancreatic cancer and passed about 9 days later. It was very unexpectedly.

They haven't even had the Memorial yet. She feels behind and has so much to do before the Memorial, so no time for posting at this this time.

I know she will be posting again once she gets through this and is feeling a little better. So everyone please say a little prayer for her and her family. I know I miss Sunny's ray of sunshine personality posts.

We miss you Sunny!

Hi. I'm here. My squares are done; 70 for the swap and 7 for Writer's students. When we close in 18 days and know the count, I'll divide the squares and send them off forthwith. The remainder will be added to Writer's and I'll send them off, too. I'm going away in mid-March, then moving sometime this Spring, so am trying to get all my commitments squared (accidental pun) away.As and when I have a chance, I'll post pictures.

70? I have to do how many? 18 days? Did I miss something? What date do these have to be mailed by? I thought I only had to do one for each person in the swap. Is it more? I was going through my yarn today to separate out the appropriate colors. I can just do the basic square I suppose but not 70.

Rancher~ No you didn't miss anything. You are fine! We only have to do as many squares as there are participants signed up. The sign up deadline isn't until Feb 28th, so the final number of squares required hasn't been determined just yet. Then there is another deal line for completion which is April 28th. All the rules & regulations along w/ deadlines can always be found on page 1 ~ post 1 of this post. It looks like as of now there are 15 participants signed up plus Writer 's students, which I don't know how may are participating. Alethea loves to crochet and is only participating in the swap to donate her squares. She made extra to send to Writer's students for them to have fun making something out of them.

Don't worry there is plenty of time to make the required amount before the deadline. I'm still so busy w/ other projects that I haven't even started. I think I know the pattern I am going to use though.
