I was to lazy to look at my stash yesterday.

I have cool colors but they're dark ones. I think the spring cool colors would look more like spring if I used lighter shades. Either will order on line or wait until I go to the big city. Walmart doesn't have much at our store.

This is what I'm running into, the cool colors are darker and don't make me think of spring. I'm trying to find anything I already have that fits the lighter end of the spectrum, but my brain is saying light greens, pinks, reds, like roses and tulips and stuff lol!
We can't shop unless we sell some more raffle tickets and the raffle is this Thursday. Maybe we'll get some local donations in the right colors

We got some pretty Christmas yarn this morning from a local person, pretty green and red with silver tinsel looking strands.

Finally looked through my stash and I have some springy green, lavender (light purple) & dark purple. Along w/ 6 basic granny squares in these colors that I forgot I made this summer on a trip tucked in the bag w/ the yarn and the start of one out of dark purple. YAY!!! I'll post a pic after my camera battery is charged. So I guess I need to get some yarn in the shades of blue to even out the cool color half color wheel. Not sure when I'll get to the store. I have some JoAnne's fabric mailer coupons I can use. I might have some Michael's as well. Our Walmart is just now restocking the sewing/fabric sec, but has very little yarn to choose from. I guess enough people complained about them taking that sec away that they are putting a small sect back in stock.

I think it looks like it falls in the cool colors on the color wheel link listed above. Lucky me to have a few basic granny squares already finished.

I want to do a floral design, but haven't picked out a pattern yet.

I feel the same about the color palette, it just doesn't make me think of Spring. I am still not sure if i am going to join.
Just an idea but maybe it would be easier if certain colors of yarn were picked out(like a vote?) and the swappers only used those colors chosen? and it could still be Springy without pink... Yellow seems like a must for a spring color though, how can you ignore all the sunshine.

I forgot what BYC'er brought it up but there's a site that lists all their colors, might be Red Heart.

I agree with the color pallette not making me think of spring. It's pretty, but more dark. Although a multicolor yarn in the warm "dark" color was called 'springtime'. My plan is to join as many swaps as I can and eventually put all the squares together anyway, so it doesn't even matter. It's just fun to see what other people come up with. (think granny square afghan on the back of "Rosann's" sofa!)

Did you ladies see the pic of my yarn stash I found that falls within the cool color wheel?

I think it's springy. I used the exact yarn for last years spring floral swap. I'll try to find a pic of the pretty lavender & purple floral square I did w/ green edge. If I can't find one I'll make one and post it soon.

Glad you mentioned the sale for Joann's fabrics. I already ordered my yarn for this swap but can save it for another time if you all want to change it. I got a nice light blue, a beautiful pale pistachio green (it's so pretty), a gray blue and a light and dark purple as well. I think they look very springy (although I don't think every swap has to look exactly like the season it's being held in). Really looking forward to when I have time to put them together!

I'm starting to think that I may make a four season afgan with different colors from these swaps. Well the four seasons won't be so literal. I will use whatever comes from the next few swaps unless they really clash, of course. Can't imagine they would though unless one of the swaps goes to neon colors or something like that.

I like the colors you already have Kim and yes, they look very springy!

We have the lime green and some pretty lavender, we will be selling raffle tickets and such to purchase the light end of the cool colors. I didn't mean to give anyone the impression I'm not happy with the colors, I love them, I just have to look at them as colors for the swap not just Spring colors. I've never been good with colors so when someone says cool or warm, Winter or Spring, etc. I have to get it set into my mind what I'm doing! We have several dark blue squares already made, and a few we will use for own projects because mixing the lime green with hot pink, or dusty rose and some other colors. The students came back today ready to work!
