Spring Granny Square Swap

Well good garden o' peas, we've to almost 2 mos. That should be plenty of time to finish I would think.

Just want to keep this thing moving.

On another note I swear the PO gets worse everyday. I'm waiting for an express mail chickens shipment and it is not here yet. This is the third time this has happened. The first time half the chicks were doa. I don't know how hatcheries can stay in business or the PO.

They keep closing processing plants which means it's farther away to get to some places. The last I checked my shipment hasn't even left NC. This is one transaction that has taken 3 shipments to complete.

We might have to mail our squares 30 days in advance to get them sometime this year.

I just put the last five squares into bags. The bags are recycled and one says, "Parmesan Cheese (for soup or salad)" on it. I wonder who will get the prize.

Oh Wow! 90 something posts since I checked last! I just scanned so if I missed something important let me know. Love all the pics of squares!!! Writer I will be very upset if I don't get one of those beautiful squares you posted from your 9 year old student!!! I can't wait to show them to folks and brag about how young your students are and how beautiful their crocheting is already! I am getting so excited now! It's so neat to see everyone's hard work and beautiful squares.

Rancher I sure hope you get your chicks soon!!! I just got a shipment of 25 chicks and five of them passed but the others are doing very well. Winter shipments make me very nervous. I hope they are close and the tracking just hasn't been updated!

That happened to me once.

I think we'll have some very nice blocks. I'm excited also. Thanks to everyone this will be a really fun swap and thanks to all that's helped me to sponsor it. Believe me this past two months has been something with my husband becoming Master of his Lodge and all the preps for it and out of state company coming in for the installation and also me taking over the newsletter for the lodge and having to do two in one month since the man doing it was so ill and couldn't get out the January one out on time. I survived though and things are under control once more.

I hope the baby chicks get there alright. I have 2 doz. eggs in the incubator that are a friends and they should hatch out next week. So far we haven't lost power and that is a blessing because the last ones cooled down too much when we lost power in Jan. and only one out of 14 lived. It's a little frizzle polish and she's so cute. I hope this next batch does well.

My chicks were mailed out on a Sunday and the processing center in Gaylord(which we found out is being closed) called me Sunday night and asked if I wanted to come and pick them up. He would be there until 10pm. It was 1 and 1/2 hr drive for us but well worth it. He said he could have the driver put them in the cab Monday morning but he had quite a few stops between there and our post office. I just hate that they are closing this one because the next closest one is over 3 hours away! And I think this guy went well above his duty.

Glad he called. Our processing plant will be closing within the next 6 months. Probably closer to 3-4 months. I just can't believe it!!! I then will have to go to Minneapolis. How scary~what a bg city and the people drive like maniacs. And is about 2 hours in and who knows how long to find the place. If it is by the airport than that would be another hour.

Kim have you thought of making scrubbies or rugs with the twine?

Wow! You all have been busy keeping the feed going. :) I have not had time to make any new squares since I posted pictures. My sister was here from Houston over the weekend (which did not end until Monday!) and I worked on a hat to send home with her for her granddaughter (my goddaughter). I am also doing the Bernat Mystery Afghan CAL on their site and the new clue came out this morning so I have been working some of these up to see what they look like! We have had 3 clues so far (pictures below) and I think this is going to be a beautiful afghan once it is complete.

WriterofWords: Please tell your student I would be proud to have one of her squares in my afghan... they are gorgeous!

Clue #1 was 12 four-inch squares (9 in the main color and 1 each of 3 accent colors)

Clue #2 was 6 eleven-inch hexagons (2 in the main color and 4 in contract A)

Clue #3 is also 6 eleven-inch hexagons. 2 in the main color and 4 in Contract C

There is a 4th contrast color that I have not yet had to use. Mine is a willow green.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow (it is my Friday!). My daughter is bringing my granddaughter (3½ yr old) down from Louisville and she is going to a pet conference (she is a groomer) in Atlanta so we get to play with the baby for a few days!

Beautiful!!!! Do you have the link KAT? Do they give you the pattern, or is it just whatever pattern you have that fits the clue? You have some beautiful "squares" Kat.
