Spring Granny Square Swap

tiki244: If you go to Bernat.com, you will see the link for the Mystery Afghan CAL on the cover page. (They also have a Mystery Afghan KAL going at the same time.) The "clues" they give are the instructions for the piece(s) to make for that week. They also post diagrams so you know what your piece should look like. I do not typically crochet using a diagram but I have to say these have been very helpful as the written instructions are a bit confusing at times. It says it goes through April. They are suggesting to use the Waverly for Bernat yarn but as long as it is worsted weight yarn, it will work.

I've seen some crazy looking poodles online also! She currently owns a giant schnauzer and wants to get a poodle. I told her that poodles are too frou frou and she would probably give it all kinds of crazy cuts and dye jobs. Her response, "well, geez, mom, you think? I am a groomer!" She would have that dog in a different style every week, I bet! This conference she is going to actually shows new techniques, has supplies available to purchase at discount and has classes for different things she can sign up for. :)

Just need to vent.

the web site says they were missent and considering the weather here I'm not hopeful of a live delivery. TSC got there chicks all right according to the guy at the PO. They would come through the same hub in Rochester.

It's snowing here and wet rain.

Oh NO!!! Rancher please keep us posted on your chick order. I hope everything turns out ok.

I think we'll have some very nice blocks. I'm excited also. Thanks to everyone this will be a really fun swap and thanks to all that's helped me to sponsor it. Believe me this past two months has been something with my husband becoming Master of his Lodge and all the preps for it and out of state company coming in for the installation and also me taking over the newsletter for the lodge and having to do two in one month since the man doing it was so ill and couldn't get out the January one out on time. I survived though and things are under control once more.

I hope the baby chicks get there alright. I have 2 doz. eggs in the incubator that are a friends and they should hatch out next week. So far we haven't lost power and that is a blessing because the last ones cooled down too much when we lost power in Jan. and only one out of 14 lived. It's a little frizzle polish and she's so cute. I hope this next batch does well.
Betty~ Good luck on the hatch!

So great to see the swap thread so active. Sounds like everyone is so busy.

My DD & I both had some like of crud this week.

She's back to school today. She tried to go yesterday, but was feeling dizzy, so I picked her up early and we just left her car there at school and DH drove her there today. So keep your fingers crossed she'll be ok today. I don't think she can afford to miss another day. I feel much better.

Tiki~ I haven't tried to make anything out of the twine off my straw stacks yet. I think Bleenie is making a planter holder out of hers, but haven't seen a pic yet. Scrubbies or rugs sound like a good idea though. I thought DD might like to make friendship bracelets out of them. I don't have that many, but they are so strong I just couldn't throw them away.

Sunny~ Welcome back!!! We've missed your posts!

Well she made it, alive and seems ok. Time will tell. She ate some and hopefully the stress won't be to much. She looks healthy. She a pullet to go with Mr. Crooked Toes. A Montgomery Blue Traveler gamebird.

I don't know much about them but some of the postings have mentioned fighting. Are there states where this is still legal? Now I wonder if I should move Mr. Crooked Toes out of the pen with the SFH's. He doesn't seem aggressive. Certainly they will have to have their own small coop. I have a crate sitting in the yard waiting for conversion and this looks like the necessity I need to motivate me to do so.

Good morning everyone,

It's still windy here but sunny and not too cold. Hope everyone else has a good day. I have sent a PM to everyone on the list. I am waiting on five answers. I've received prompt replies so far so I should have a total count soon. We still have a while yet to get our squares done and just think I get to see them all together first. Na na na na na! It's like being a kid again waiting for Santa Claus.

Oh No.....and didn't you say this is your third try at this???? Unbelievable.

Well the first order was late and half were dead. Then the second order came and it turned out that one of them had crooked toes and when I posted pictures the Seller realized Mr. Crooked toes is in fact a game bird. A Montgomery Blue traveler. That shipment was late too. I did lose one chick from them. Now this bird, Mrs. Crooked Toes (pullet) was misdirected and late also. He offered to send me a pullet of my choice and I just said it was up to him and got a pullet Montgomery Blue. So I don't think I'll be ordering anything after my shipment of Del chicks comes in April.

All these changes the PO is making is creating a mess for chicken shipments. I'll have to ask TSC if there chicks were late.

Oh so glad she made it!
