Spring Granny Square Swap

Oh Alethea they are absolutely beautiful! My students are just going to love them!
The squares are in the mail. There are 71 for the swap and 18+yarn, mailed separately, for Writer's students. I admit there was a greedy thought when I realized there were enough for an afghan. I guess I'll make an afghan after I move.

Just got caught up on all the posts since I have not been on in a bit. I had to go to Baltimore Monday on business and when I returned on Wednesday, I brought an upper respiratory infection home with me.

I've just now started to feel a little more like myself. Thankfully the MD gave me a shot to help the healing along as I have to leave out again Monday for two weeks in the Northeast. Again headed to Baltimore for work and instead of coming home Friday, I will fly to Connecticut to go see my mother. She just returned to the nursing home from the hospital after a week's stay with pneumonia. I am going to surprise her! I have not gotten home to see her since last April. I am hoping to get to see a few of my siblings while I am there also but will not unless they go to see our mother as the weekend is hers!

Betty, I am sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Due to illness, I only got one more square completes for a total of 5. I am taking my yarn with me when I head out on Monday. This past week, my boss went with me to Baltimore and she kept me busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. The coming weeks should be productive crochet weeks without her there.

The flying egg stories made me giggle. I am sorry that you lost your eggs but the method was rather funny.

Not sure if I will be online much while out of town. I will get caught up when I can. Talk to y'all soon! Happy hookin'

What long lives to be blessed! I'll keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and if you do be careful!

The hatch didn't do well. Only three hatched and some weren't fertile and others died about a week before hatch time. No idea why.

Squares are coming along. I want to alert everyone now while I can. If I'm suddenly not online for about a week it will be because my husband and I have left for Kansas/Missouri. My husbands 99 year old sister is in a coma and not expected to live. Hospice says she can pass any time now. My husband hasn't decided for sure if he wants to fly back for the funeral but his 95 year old sister is bound to want him there. I am prepared with whatever his decision is. I've called about prices on airfare and my neighbor will care for my dog and chickens if we go. I wanted to let all of you know so you wouldn't wonder if I got blown away in one of our wind storms. I'll post when I'm leaving and when I'll be back if I can. Keep hooking everyone.....

Oh my gosh so much is happening on here today.

Betty I am so sorry to hear about your Sister in law. My thoughts are with you at this time. You are very sweet to be thinking of us right now when you have so much on your plate!

Alethea maybe it's not too late to change your mind about getting squares from this swap. Maybe Betty could hold them for you until you get settled and have a new mailing address? I can still add another couple of squares to my total. I don't mind.

Well this is what I found under mine yesterday. The eggs were given to me by a friend. There were two more today. She has one more egg and I hope it's a chick. I took the first three chicks she hatched and If this last one is not a chick the poor girl will have sat for nothing. I don't think I can put these three back under her. While she may take to them, they may not take to her.

On another note folks, I'd just like to say, Please forgive me if I do not comment on all the trouble folks are having. I am seeing and hearing a lot these days. I belong to a large church and Lord have mercy there is plenty of trouble to go around. So I don't mention mine, which pale in comparison to some.

That said, please know that I am aware and praying for everyone on this thread and others. One of the purposes of our knitting squares thing at church is to pray for who ever the current blanket is for while we knit. So that's what I will do while crocheting more squares for this swap.

Take care,

Rancher
