Standard bred Sumatras

I keep on flipping back to the standard drawings. It looks like the black boy has single spurs and the blue boy has multiples. It also looks like it was drawn in the 1980's. Does anyone know if it has been updated since then? I need to just bite the bullet and buy the APA book.

FallingStar, I can't comment on your birds as I'm still sucking in everybody else's knowledge but good luck at your fair and HAVE FUN!

Ralibi, that picture of the black is the current one for now. You should definitely get the standard. You cant go wrong with buying one. Its money well spent.

I know this is off subject but I went to my parent's house yesterday and my mom showed me some old pictures she found. Here is and old picture from the early 90's of some of my bantam sumatras. The white one is the only picture I have of my white sumatras. I later did have solid white birds but I thought I would share anyways.

Okay back on subject. Sorry

I would love to see some of FMP and Infntyhrts beaks (can never see enough chicken pictures

Thank you Ramirezframing. Maybe they will be on later, and will show off some more pictures for us. Can never have enough pictures.

Zach, what do you think of your little pullet? How is her type looking? Looks like you are off to a great start with your blues.

Thanks NWsumatras. I just started bantam blues this year I was able to buy a splash bantam pullet from Tom in the fall and I crossed her over my best typed black male and in March I bought a pair of blues from him. An excellent male that I love his lacing and color and nice type with faults in his comb and he is a little rough on his back to tail and a very typy female but lacks the lacing that the male has. I hatched this pullet out of the pair along with a splash cockerel. She has very good type for her age and I only found one feather on her entire body with a little peppering on it which is a big improvement from her mom. Her splash brother has his dad's strong type and a better comb. I am hoping to show her this fall and at Knoxville and possibly pick up a nice blue too from Tom to breed her to or breed her back to her dad.

Oh that sounds great Zach. Hope you do get to show her. Let us know how you do. You sound like you are doing a great job with them, and improvement is a good sign you are on the right track. I have heard the best pairings for blues come from a splash to black pairing, but honestly I don't think I have done that myself. For some reason the splashes can never make to my breeder pens. I even give them away as day olds lol. Did you see a change in color quality from your blue to blue vs black to splash pairings?
