Startiong first incubation attempt as soon as eggs arrive....

Bunni....dear Bunni....

You worry too much. That's not that big of a change. Last year I had an incubator that went all the way up to 136 and all but 2 of the eggs survived. You'll be fine.

I learned the more you worry the more problems you'll have. Hang in there!!

I hope you're right...I've been setting right here in the office watching the digital temp.....it's back to 99.0.
I think I turned OFF the little space heater cuz I was getting too hot setting in front of it, forgot to turn it back on when I left the room for the night.
I'll be HAPPY if only a couple of the Lemons and the 2 BR's make it.

We heat our house with a pellet stove which gets VERY hot. We don't leave house often, but when we do we close bedroom doors. I forgot to put the incubator in the cooler room when we left for the whole day and it rose VERY high. I think it was that high all day.

I know some people who never check the temp or even turn the eggs. So, you're doing just right!!!

By the way, I usually run mine 101 for the first week and 100 the last 2. Everyone does theirs different!

Cyndy, I was sent a post from a guy who told me he only DRY incubates, after several BAD hatches, so thats what Im doing. A dry incubation, until day 18, or LOCKDOWN, then water up to 75%, and no opening for 5 days, Can't open it till the hatched chicks are DRY. Don't be tempted to take out wet chicks Mommies, and Daddies. They'll live without food for awhile.
Welcome to the first time hatching post. I'm Bunni, I live in Munger and have had chickens since early this spring, May I guess. Some I started raising as day-olds, and others I went and bought already at point-of-lay cause I couldn't wait for eggs!! Im impatient. Don't how I'm going to live thru the next 21 days.

I am doing the same thing! Dry ! I did the SAME thing as well I went and bought layers already started!! now my EEs are laying so getting about 10/12a day from 14 hens out there! we have two bators going a third for lockdown only so the different hatches can be rotated. first hatch on jan 1st 20 mixed silkie/d uccle EE x RIR X BRx THEN the good ones!

jan 9th is MARANS!!! woohooo

Im off to candle my eggs! all 31 eggs! I have numbered each Breed and am keeping a log of its progress. i will try to post pics of the candling. wish me luck!

not seeing much, but then I don't really know what I'm looking for. Have a bright enough flashlight with TP tube taped to the end for a soft edge to put eggs up against. I can detect the air cell at the one end.
