Stella's Social Club

Oops I missed an entire new page! Sounds good Kathy. I love easy but never seem to do it. Tonight was easy. I bought a rotisserie chicken breast from Safeway and made Michael a sandwich!

I am going to make one of the egg things from my new cookbook.

We pete some chickens out to free range for a bit this afternoon. Isi was super protective of his girls and herded them back into the run after only a few minutes. We let the layers out then.

You have your work cut out for you Diva. I signed up for another food photography course starting May 2! This one is Food Photography Au Naturel. Should be fun. I was looking at the guest instructor George Crudo's work, and he shoots a lot of horizontal stuff! It will be interesting to see if he is as adamant as the first two instructor's had been about vertical. I know it is much easier to crop the picture for submission to the food porn sites if they were shot in vertical. So stay tuned! I'll be looking for feedback and sharing my critiques with you guys.

By the way, the poached egg pics were horizontal because Michael used my camera the night before to shoot the eclipse. He changed the tripod mount to horizontal and tightened it so much that I couldn't change it back to vertical the next morning. You lose a lot of hand strength when you get old.

I find the horizontal/vertical thing so funny, its like you 2 are the honeymooners. Plus, yes, more nekkid photos! Of nekid foods of course!
I LOVE this little clip! I had a Delaware girl that always did that!

I am baaaaaaaaaack ! Did you notice? I spent a couple more days in the hospital. I think this time, they may have figured out the problem. YAY! Anyway, I am now breathing pretty easily and am hopeful I am on the mend! Heck, I am even feeling like I may be back to normal, and boy am I happy about that!
HuZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isaac used to run far and wide all over this place. Seems since he's gotten old, he tends to stay closer to the coop for longer periods or take the girls back home rather than me having to come find them. He will go to certain places, but he doesn't stay as long as he used to. He may not have the confidence in himself to watch out for the hens as well now that he has issues with arthritis and is missing ends of two toes, etc. The guy seems to know his limits, very smart rooster. He goes to roost and as soon as he manages to sit down, he is asleep like some old man in a rocking chair. He's earned it, though. He doesn't even care if his son, Deacon, is roosting right next to him at that time of day.

Gotta love easy, right, Kathy?

Oh, I found some of Bob Blosl's advice to me about breeding back up to the Stukel lines with what I have:

This thread was the one, which contained this line, among others:

Bob had just told me that he was blown away by the photo of my original Stukel male, Rex, then a couple of posts later, he saw that Rex had been killed and sounded so heartbroken over it, like it was his loss. He was such a nice, giving man with his knowledge.

He had just commented on Rex here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/273471/plymouth-rock-thread/4470#post_11864700

Thanks for the pictures of this male. Does he have females to be breed to him? bob

I just read he is dead. God what a shame. Please keep this picture and try to breed and raisie some to look like him. He is one of the best barred rocks to live in the last ten years.
I didn't know Bob that well, but I sure felt his loss after reading his articles on BRs and RIRs many years ago, then finally, getting to converse with him here and having him give me some advice on breeding.

Sorry to divert from topic, but Kelly asked what he told me and I was rereading his posts when I found them and just felt rather sad that we lost Bob so soon. We need more like him.
Rex was an amazing male. I hope you get a male like him again someday Cyn. Bob was a very caring man and willing to help everyone.

Good to hear Isaac is enjoying himself. I know how close you were to loosing him this winter.

He did have a rough winter, but he's a strong guy and keeps on trucking. He'll keep going until he just keels over in the middle of the yard, I bet. He's been a joy to have.
