Lydia cracked me up this morning when she wanted the "pwupew" dress and after she put it on exclaimed, "It's weawy coot!" (really cute!)

Before and after pics of my new quarantine coop- a neighbor gave it to me, it has been at times a rabbit hutch and a chicken coop but he kept losing them to predators. The roof is where I'll bet they were getting in, it was very loose. It's snug now! Took me 2 days off and on, and it is entirely repaired from scraps. Nice to have a place to put chickens that are sick besides my laundry room, at least for 3 seasons of the year!

Finally caught my little Pavlovskaja cockerel crowing when the camera was on. You can't see him, just hear him. But until I can edit two seconds out of a half hour video you can put a face on it!

Meet Boris, the Russky, get it Roo-ski?

p.s, Michael was just digging in the mud to fix a water leak. He does wash his hands.

I am back and here's the video. I did not get to video the actual crow. He sTops when I go near the brooder with the camera, so I just stood outside.

I sold 3 hens yesterday, then went to Mary's and picked up 2 chicks and 2 eggs for my broodies. The 2 eggs hadn't pipped yet but were ready to hatch. Got them home and under my broodies. This morning, all babies and momma's are doing fine. I got them separated to their Broody quarters for the weekend, while we are away.

My son said to me: "So mom, you get rid of 3 hens and go pick up 4 more chickens?" I said yup, that's how it works.

His intro to chicken math.

Glad they all did well during the night Kelly!

Two of mine hatch, one during the night and another just now. The third one in the tiny egg was a quitter during the night. Great big chick in a tiny egg. One of mine is the silvery blue color and the other dark. When I move these guys to the little brooder my incubator will be empty for the first time in a long time! Michael wants me to sell it and get two smaller ones. We had much better luck than with this cabinet one! Don't know if I am going to do that or not but I sure hate this thing. IMPOSSIBLE to maintain humidity, even with the automatic pump.

Anyway that is a decision for another day.
