I thought the crow was pretty good for a beginner.

Kelly - Did you tell your son it's called downsizing?

Notice in my mailbox yesterday about my Rees CL chicks. The shipper listed "call for pickup" on the box but did not write my phone number anywhere on the box! Rushed to the PO this morning- thankfully we live in a small town and the post mistress took my box of chicks to the Co-op last night at close and had them put the survivors under a heat lamp. They shipped 6 (should have been at least 10) with no heat pack. Have a pair doing well and a female I think I'll lose. I'm still short a total of 8 chicks from my order. Grrrr.

Good grief! "Shipper" needs to get its act together! I can't even get a reply to my email!

I sold 3 hens yesterday, then went to Mary's and picked up 2 chicks and 2 eggs for my broodies. The 2 eggs hadn't pipped yet but were ready to hatch. Got them home and under my broodies. This morning, all babies and momma's are doing fine. I got them separated to their Broody quarters for the weekend, while we are away.

My son said to me: "So mom, you get rid of 3 hens and go pick up 4 more chickens?" I said yup, that's how it works.

Sometimes they learn rather slowly, but eventually .. get it. :D DH's also. Mine got it a long time ago. I'm not hatching any more at least. Just buying a couple of SG's though from a BYC friend up north. Only 2. :)

Pups eyes are opening..three left to sell. Goldendoodles..they are getting fun.

She only had 4, and I keep saying, I'm glad because so much was going on there for a while. BTW..our Lisa moved into her new home yesterday. She looked happy.
Our mama dog is going to be spayed in Oct. 2 litters is plenty. The little black boy in the middle is going to a family that lost their goldendoodle this yr. I am not sure who is more excited, the little girls, or the dad. Their dog went everywhere with him..farmer.

I just put 2 dozen (OK maybe more I did not count them completely) eggs in the incubator. There is something wrong with me.

Had the same problem for yrs. I just .. finally...put my bators away. In fact, I'm selling all but one. It will be a back up in case I end up deciding letting a broody lay on some eggs. Won't be buying shipped eggs anymore. They will come from friends close by. It feels good..no eggs to turn. I guess I finally got my fill of the hatching and the babies. Well, I do miss those cute little fuzzy butts. Now I am trying to downsize my flock outside before winter. I only have a back yard flock. I let them free range in the summer, no problem, but the coop and the run are only big enough for around 8 chickens, I keep them in for the winter. Could do 10, but I would be out there cleaning often. Real often.
