I think it was too stupid to live.

I had the trap baited and three nights in a row the bait was gone, but the door didn't spring. I didn't bother baiting the trap for the last week. It went into an unbaited trap! It was napping peacefully in the photo.

Something had been digging around the pens. Night before last, something (Pepe LePew) had pulled a chicken's leg through the pen fence and eaten off most of the leg. The pullet was still alive, with a bare bone hanging out

We of course had to put the poor thing down (and by we I mean DH).

Let's just say the kitty is permanently sleeping.

If you ever trap one, PM me for instructions.

What do you NOT want to find in morning when you go out to check on your chickens?
YIKES! Better to find it here than to find it wandering in a run or coop!
Deb what a pretty kitty are you gonna keep it

Awe, poor chicken. :( At least you got it for now!

I'm VERY tempted to bring at least 3 or four hens up to our back yard, just for bug control !... but my wife and the neighbors may not like that... and coyotes could jump the fence to get them in a heart beat.

I have been trying to be a good girl and not say a thing about all of us wanting you to keep at least 3 or 4 hens at your new house. Not very recently, anyway.

But, c'mon, you GOTTA. Won't be hard to cobble together something suitable for them....
