But I have calls at home, do you mind if they are pet/breeder quality birds? They'll be small, but their bills will be longer than you want on the show table. I got all my original calls from Holderreads.
Do I mind?!? My flock of chickens is an exercise in miscegenation.![]()
I have one call drake, about three years old. Elvis hasn't had a wife his size since Priscilla just disappeared shortly after we moved here. He has to compete with the Cayuga drakes for a girlfriend.
Not only would I like a wife for Elvis, but some sister wives and maybe a couple brethren his size to make a small flock of their own. I don't know if that's important for calls....
I'm still going to be running around here until after I'm finished with fair. I'll be bringing all my birds home next Monday, then I need to go into my office, maybe Tuesday too. Next week I'll go through the ducklings I hatched this year and see what I have. I know I've hatched at least a dozen. We can certainly find friends for Elvis and I've been wanting to come and see your pond!

She's still sitting, she will not give up. I thought I had her broke and she laid eggs for a week and then started sitting again! She's been sitting this time for several weeks after sitting for a month before that. If you don't have anything, no problem, I'll go get a few Feed store chicks for her.Sorry, I just didn't a chance to get back with you. I went through the eggs that were coming up, the only thing you were looking for was one OE (BCM x Araucana), but that was still a day or two off so I can't guarantee it will hatch. There no more marans coming up and the ones hatched were already probably a little old for adding to a broody.
When I go back down, I'll take another look at what is coming in case your broody is still sitting. I had your number in my pocket, just got swamped with master showmanship, the knowledge bowl and a few other tasks that were on my plate.
I can't even believe how big my ducklings have gotten, I don't know where I'm going to put them when I bring them home!
I didn't write down what is due to hatch through the rest of the fair, but I know they were all light colored (white/tint) eggs. I go back down on Friday, I'll look at the eggs and give you a call. If there is something there you want and they hatch, I could pass them off to you on Sunday. If you came down to CalExpo, I could probably pass them off to you at the gate so you didn't need to pay to come in/park.Quote:She's still sitting, she will not give up. I honestly don't know what breeds you have, so I have no clue what to tell you I'm interested in. I'm really not trying to be picky. After having to put down my English Orp this year, I'm not ready to have more of them right now.
