So far so good, though I've been worried about the broodies and babies. I have been wetting down the runs in their favorite spots to keep them cool. Also making lots of water trips for them.

I'm also worried about my cream legbar - she's been honking like a goose while panting.

I only got 4 eggs yesterday and 3 today, so they are definitely struggling with this heat. (From 18 hens of laying age and not counting the 6 broodies) 104 today at my place.

Rinda, I believe my initial Isbars were vaccinated by Greenfire.

Hm, OK. So the parents of my stock may have been vaccinated. Not sure that if that is significant but I will keep it in the back of my mind.
Sorry to hear about your BCM pullet- how very sad!

Rinda - I too thought botulism. I'm assuming you've changed the feed though?

I hope you get conclusive results soon.

I go through about 2 bags of chick feed per week (

I'm not going to say how many chicks that covers- CHICKEN MATH!) sometimes one brand sometimes another depending where I go for feed. So they get a feeder filled from a different bag probably every other time I fill the feeder.

My well pump did not come back on when the power did last night. No water. Circuit breakers have been flipped to no avail. It will be late this evening before the pump guy can make it out, but he hopes it's "just the fuse" in the pump head. He knows there are a whole bunch of thirsty birds here.

Guess I'll be shlepping buckets of pond water around today.
