Rinda do you have an underground shelter?

Yes but it is inaccessible for now; when we bought the house almost a year and a half ago we got house + acreage, every external building was falling apart, and the storm shelter door was completely gone. Given our proximity to a creek and several ponds the the chance of snakes and falls we boarded it up until we had time to make proper doors for it- safer with 4 little kids around. Hopefully later this spring or summer that project will move up on the list. But we do have a central bathroom with no windows so that will do in a pinch. We just watch the weather close.

Oh Rinda you wrote that " S "word that should never be written - I will think about that all night and probably keep the lights on - like that would be of help. Don't like things that slither -

My husband is terrified of them. And spiders, too. He's the one that is constantly freaking out if the kids go down to our little pond because there MIGHT be a cottonmouth down there (even though we've yet to see one). Poor kids! But I guess it's good there is a balance, I'm the lax permissive one when it comes to safety and he is the worrier... in everything else it is the reverse!

That's good Rinda. I guess your husband wouldn't be any use to me - no offense.

None taken. One time there was a little jumping spider on the bed and I told him to pick it up and take care of it. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "You take care of it!" so I scooped it up in my hand and took it outside. He told me afterwards he didn't think I'd REALLY do it. He thinks every spider he sees is a brown recluse or a black widow.

Love him to death but I have to take care of myself when it comes to spiders and snakes!

Cyn have the same problem tooth had a root canal and crown many years ago, it is very loose. The dr. wants to do a bridge, well teeth are loose on both sides of it - so he wants to do a bridge. Big problem is THIS is a front tooth and can't be hidden.

I had a bad molar crown several years ago, kept getting bad toothaches. Previous dentist wanted to do root canal and re-crown. I could not afford that and the tooth wouldn't show, so I had it out. It was enormous. I can still put a thumb width in the space. Took forever to heal. Now the one behind it has the same problem.- new dentist wants to do root canal and crown. It will probably put me over the insurance limit for the whole year. He wants me to see a specialist for consult first - there goes more bucks. It would be the only back(lower) molar I have.

Have so many gaps from extractions- food gets caught in there and very annoying. I have gone to dentists every 6 mos. all my life and did whatever they told me to do. Must be genetics - my mom had false teeth very early in life - they didn't know then about needing calcium when she was pregnant 3 times. My sister and I both have horrible teeth.

I saw a video from a dentist who says no one should ever do a root canal, that any other solution is best. He says root canal teeth are the cause of all sorts of issues because the miles of tiny tubules cannot be cleaned out, no matter what the dentist says. Interesting. I know there are at least two other teeth that have had root canals.

I also have a bridge and if that tooth goes that holds the main leg of it, the other side is a root canal tooth and I'll have a three tooth gap so will have to do something. Most insurance plans DO NOT pay for implants, unfortunately, including mine. Implants would be the way I'd want to go, but at about $4000 each, not something I can afford unless money falls from the sky.

Isn't this a fun conversation? Ick, sorry.

Picked up my granddaughter today and we went to lunch and shopping. We had Mexican food and I had Rellano en Nagado. I have never had it before and it was fantastic! It looked like this except it came with cilantro rice and black beans. OMG I would drive back down to Folsom to eat it again tonight.

Here's the description from the menu:

Relleno en Nogada
One large poblano chiles stuffed with Mexican-Style picadillo beef, carrots, raisins, onions and fruits topped with our walnut cream sauce. Served with cilantro rice and black beans on the side.

I've never heard of it, sounds interesting though.

My husband doesn't like snakes either. Last night, our youngest asked if he could have a pet snake. A firm NO was quickly stated by DH. Our oldest asked for a snake at the same age.

I have read they are a waste of money and not worth the pain. I will opt for a cap or extraction first. The only thing is they have to put me out to pull it.

Something I have never understood is why insurance does not pay for dental work. An infected tooth or gums is an infection and can even cause heart problems. Go figure. Yes I am at that stage too where one tooth to root canel or replace cost a holy fortune. Just had one done. Don't let a reg. dentist think he can do a root cannel. Nooooo now 6 yrs later and a lot of pain I just had one done over by a specialist. nO more pain thankgoodness. Now if the other one was done. sigh!!!!! I also have to have a crown removed because decay has gotten under it. My teeth are very soft. Always have been. What I do not understand is why the Dentist charge sooo much for fixing our teeth one at a time???? I do beleive they are taking advantage.
I have jubilee orps in the hatcher and under a hen hahlf and half. Maybe this way I will have at least some to hatch. Later in April I haope to put Blue part English and Delawares in to hatch too. I know I must be a bit crazy but oh its such a high to see those little pips and then the peeps running around.
