Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

That is exactly what my old mare would have looked like if she had been fat and healthy when I got her. She never recovered from the abuse of her previoius owner but we/she had a good 11 years with us. Just never got fat..... She is beautiful and makes me miss my Hope.

i went camping for a few days and come back to find out that you got him back!! YAY! im so glad!! congrats on getting your pretty boy back!!! please give him a treat from me and extra scratches!!!

The farrier came out today!

He removed the shoes on the front hooves, but couldn't believe what they'd done to poor Maxey. He said the shoes were a size too small and that the "retard that did this also shaved down the sidewall in order to make the hoof fit the shoe." He was fuming over it. Anyway, the farrier put "slips" on his hooves.

The back hooves didn't have enough growth to remove the shoes and the shoes on the back hooves still fit well. He thinks after 6 weeks he can completely remove the shoes on the back hooves, but would like to keep shoes on the front until the cracks grow down enough.

The cracks aren't just cracks. They are bacterial infections. The farrier removed the black smut that was in the crack and smoothed it down. I'm supposed to put this stuff called Coppertox (Kopertox?) on his hooves each morning (on the cracks only) to keep it from getting reinfected.

I'll be taking pics of his new duds soon.

In the meantime, anyone know of a good price for Kopertox? I've been finding it for around $23 for a 16oz. bottle.

Are you kidding me? What kind of farrier would shave the hooves to fit the shoes? That's just

! I've never heard of such a thing, for crying out loud that's why there are different size shoes!!!! Sorry, I feel your pain there, I had a Thoroughbred growing up and he always had to have shoes cause his feet weren't great. Glad to hear he'll be able to get his shoes off eventually. Can't wait to see new pictures too!

Kopertox is great, and even works well for foot rot in sheep.

That price sounds about right.

Kopertox does work very well... just don't get any on your hands or clothes because they will be stained for a while!
