I think the uncle has physical control of the stolen horse but no court order... the police dept not working with the victim they are corrupt and that came out in the newspaper! Some relations to the perp
Just to add to the mix, "Uncle" worked for the sheriff as a jailer, and "Bro" or maybe "Cuz" of lessee was a deputy. This is a matter of public record, it was in the newspaper. So to untangle it, I think "Uncle's" son, another "Cuz" is keeping, or has been keeping, the horse at his place. I hope he is still there and in good condition. We are all praying for the safe return of this beautiful horse to his owner.
The uncle is now under court order not to remove the horse since it IS part of a criminal investigation.
netposse, thanks for checking in!

WAIT...the jailer at the freaking jail is who has MAX?!?! That is ridiculous. How did I miss this? Also, you should be able to bring his winning record into this. It might be hard to track down, but the rodeo association should have it.
Yup. Now, why are we not surprised that she could get no action out of the sheriff on this matter???? His employees were in it up to their necks. Good ole boys stick together. She's just a GIRL! I bet they are surprised that she didn't just give up and go away, but instead chose to fight this stone wall of injustice.

No, the jailer was fired for drug use/trafficking involving trustees at the jail
