Ropo: You need to make a page where we can look at Max and his pictures.... I worry that the feller is dedicated to keeping Max and sticking you with court costs... I fear that he may show the judge a different horse.. If that happens Max will hit the sale market ... We all need to keep him burned into our minds eye... Please post a pic on either your website or BYC page so we can see it w/o having to peruse this thread to find it... thanks.. I am really pulling for ya... Dang dirty ppl... There is a pile of dirty traders in the horse world... I am just sickened....

It can be done... Bishoping isn't all that lost of an art... I have been in the horse world for years and dealt with some of the dirtiest traders.... I am hoping this guy is just a backyard idiot... that is the best scenario.... It can be done... It just is a matter of how dedicated he is to the task.

RoPo... Please send me a pic of your horse.... I want to post it where I can think of him this week...okay??

Ropo, watch the scoundrel. Swapping horses is easy. Dishonest horse trader do it all the time. DNA is the only fool proof way to prove anything. I could go on Craigs list right now and just go to one or two auctions and probably find just about any color or type of horse I wanted for under $200. Then, when it was over, I could take the horse to the next auction and get most of my money back. I go to a lot of horse auctions. I've seen a lot of "papered" horses that I doubt really go with papers that are photo copied and hanging on the side of the pen. It can take an experienced eye to really see the slight discrepencies in markings and know the body types for particular breeding lines. I've also seen a lot of horses that look absolutely purebred but have no papers being sold as grade. It makes a person wonder. Remember, Oklahoma is the horse and cattle thief capital of the world. The market is ripe there to pick up cheap horses. The Oklahoma livestock laws make it an ideal state to bring stolen livestock to for a quick sale. Ask the DA if he can request that the judge authorize an agent selected by you to go and collect DNA. The agent should preferably be a horse person familiar with Max. Sorry that I'm such a downer. I just have seen way to much dishonesty in the horse world. And the family you're dealing with probably know a lot of shady characters to help them.

agreed horsejody This is why I asked for the town.. We can watch CL and ask about past postings looking for horses... He could be trying to swap out.. that would be past tense at this point I imagine but it could still be worth throwing up a post...

I am an excellent slueth in that regard.. I did placemnt for over 10 years and I had to know the ppl that were taking my horses home... It is part of the landscape... Anyone know where Max's pics are? post number please

I agree with horsejody about swapping papers, BUT, don't worry RoPo, you've got SOO many folks here praying for you and Max, I know that it'll all work out right!!

I bought a SB In February who had baggage that didn't show up until I worked him, so I took him to a local monthly auction in April. The papers matched his tattoo, and I took the pains to shave his neck and braid his mane so that anybody could read it and see it matched the copy of his papers on the clipboard outside of the stall. It WE don't behave honestly and if we don't practice defensive horsemanship (it's like defensive driving), AND police our interests, we will have even more problems.
Looking forward to reading about Max's homecoming VERY SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
