Stop Dressing Your Daughter Like A...

There isn't a smiley here nasty enough to convey how I feel. :::shaking head::: and those poor little girls with grow up with such a warped sense of themselves and what is is to be a woman.

How about this one

OMG me too, only my mohawk was brown. My mom said she'd throw me out of the house if I pierced my ears or dyed my hair, and she wasn't kidding.

Now the tables have turned on me a bit. Good ol' karma I guess.

Thank goodness our school district has a dress code that is pretty strict. But I've seen more than one girl stripping down to her spaghetti straps the second she gets off the bus. My poor DD is still in grade school, but she's as tall as I am. It's really hard to find her clothes that fit and are age appropriate. We've been shopping at Goodwill ALOT lately with moderate success.

I had reached my full adult height at age 12 (I am 5' 7") and my daughter is following suit. She is just about out of the 7-16 clothes and I am going to have to do a lot more sewing. This year we shopped at Academy and bought some of the school uniforms that were modest and attractive. We homeschool so it doesn't matter much what we wear from a school standard perspective. We found some nice shorts and skirts that did a good job of covering what they should as well as jumpers and blouses for really good prices. We found plain jeans at Penney's and ended up sewing some skirts and dresses. What I found so interested (and reassuring as a mom) was her comment the other day as we walked through the mall. She said, "Mom, I wouldn't wear that stuff unless it was in front of you or behind closed doors with my husband." I was so proud of her.

Another day, the same daughter asked me what we would be wearing in heaven. I said that I though the Bible said we would be wearing white robes. My 10 year old son piped up from the back seat, "Well, Thank goodness! At least we won't have this terrible immodesty problem."

Clothing and modesty are an often discussed topic in our home.

Wow! What an insightful and TRUE article. My kids (all now pretty much grown) Were not allowed to wear clothes like that! I remember all to well arguing with my teenage daughters about modesty and how you can dress stylishly without looking trampy. Im sure my husband was having minor strokes at times!LOL I now have a 5 year old grandaughter and I I have never seen her dressed in this manner. My daughter-in-law is a wonderful mother and has "common sence" and I'm sure my son learned enough morals from us. My God what is this world coming to?

My friends with girls complain about this problem, alot. Having boys makes things easier. I mostly blame the boneheaded parents. On the local news here a middle school girl and her mother were complaining because she was sent home because her shirt was too provocative...it said "JUICY" across the chest. Both were arguing because this was a brand name, it was no different than having "GAP" across your chest. IDIOTS!!!! But notice where this started....the school sent her home. The schools here are much stricter than when I was in junior high and high school. Any one remember the 'two fingers tequila" shirts or caps with marijuana leaves on them??? My schools' policy was basically if you could make it to school without getting arrested for indecency, then you could stay.

Oh, and I can remember going to church and every skirt was a good six inches above the knee....that's what my mom wore and so did all the other ladies.

This morning it was 40, with the high only supposed to be 50. As I drove to work I passed an elementary school where a mother had dropped off her daughter and was anxiously watching to make sure she went into the building. I was pleased with her diligence, having been there myself. And then I looked at what the kid was wearing: A ruffled mini-skirt that was horribly too short for school, even in warm weather. Flip-flops on her feet. T-shirt with short sleeves that barely made it to the waist-band of the mini skirt. NO COAT AT ALL!!

I wanted to turn around and go beat that mother up!!

I didn't let my daughter ever dress that way and won't ever let my grandaughter dress that way. Women need to get some back bone and stand up and do the right thing. This country seems to be going to h___in a hand basket!!! I'll shop at Disney store or Kohls, they still have cute stuff, or else I'm digging out the sewing machine!

Flip-flops on her feet

AAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!

What in the hell is going on with that! Coats and sweaters and flip flops. The only place you can wear flip flops in November is the tropics!
It should be a law, well common sense anyway, you dont wear flip flops with coats and or sweaters. See it all the time and not just kids, the stupid parents are the role models!
