Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

Pics
I just pulled the trigger - paid for delivery - 16 panels incoming. 11 for the length of the barn, 2 for the front, 2 for the back. 1 extra, because.

Next will be the lumber for the framing.

When my parents drop by for a week, I think the old man and I (him 80, me in my 50s) will hang some rafter extensions, set some 4x4s, and build a green house.

Its going to be so dang cold (for Florida).

You will love it!

We built our 2nd coop in January 2013, an unusually snowy one for us.

Then the following January, because we always do things 'the hard way' we built the greenhouse. The year of the Polar Vortex. :th

We have lots of wood so kept a fire barrel (made like an outdoor heater) going everyday. Coffee pot on all day. Still thought I'd freeze my a$$ off!

Coop #3 is in the plan. Was delayed because of MIL health recently. I told him, I'm NOT doing this in Jan again! I can wait.

Good luck. Make coffee. Maybe a fire? Get it done. You will love it!

Maybe I'm getting less accomplished today than I hoped... :(

Cool and drizzles here.
Planning days are good.
Also thankful for a walk in coop!

Watching Tuesday night forecast for here. It says clear and 20F. Thankfully no precip! Picked a lot of broccoli yesterday. Need to get the rest Mon or Tues morning. Guess I'll be steam blanching some and hopefully squeeze them in the freezer.

I absolutely LOVE my greenhouse. I could not start garden seeds without it. We don't get much sunshine in February/March, but it sure doesn't take much to warm up the greenhouse. It's passive solar heat only.

I set up two folding tables, covered them with black weed block fabric. (Finally, a good use for weed block fabric.) I have some clear totes to cover the pots; effectively a greenhouse in a greenhouse.
