technically, its a trailer - no engine. its a 30' +/- Forest River Ultralite from last decade with two bump outs, an "outside kitchen" and a single roof mounted A/C unit which is supposed to run on a single 30a supply leg. Hahahahahahahhahaha.

We weren't supposed to be in it nearly this long, but between the Pandemic and the massive change in interest rates, following a year of delays from our architect and his engineer... I have a foundation, underslab plumbing and some wall forms in place. Not enough forms to finish the walls, no concrete to fill them, and no roof - much less finishing it out once the the box is cast.
My dad's first RV was a 19' Dodge, I've forgotten the model/name. When the walls started disintegrating he bought a 29' Ford. He lived in that for the last ten or so years of his life.

Every now and then, hubby talks about building a teardrop trailer and doing some travelling. I'm only sort of interested; what would I do with the chickens and what about the garden?

But how would I ever get to be alone????
Before the chickens, before my dh's disability, we were planning to buy a fiberglass trailer when we retired, travel to see the grandkids. There is no alone in that situation...

I could not do that for very long. Just. Could. Not.

Same thing when hubby talked about moving to Alaska. No or very limited sunshine for extended periods of time? Same thing. I'd be insane or dead. You go, dear. Text me every now and then.
1 Duck hatched while I was out. My wife says similarly afflicted. Not sure if they hatched early, something genetic, didn't get the egg turner ring out soon enough... SO many things I may have done wrong.
Dang. Sorry to hear that.

Have you looked on any of the duck threads here on BYC for information?

Not yet. Just got back from the hardware store. Have to fix the floor, remount the purple martin gourd thingies higher up, then get back to one of the many projects I started months ago that still aren't done.

Alaska looks beautiful, but I have had my fill of cold and snow. I prefer milder, shorter winters.

Ron and I have been married 43 years, have done many 10-12 day vacations on the road. First day is fine, day 2 can be cranky. Then things smooth out. If things hadn't happened and we had retired to travel we'd be okay, but now the point is moot. It was a nice plan.
