That's like our front porch. We want to build a wrap around porch to tie into the front porch, go around the side of the house, then around the back. We're going to hire some/most of it done, as hubby doesn't want to do the compound on the back. Or deal with being 8-10 feet off the ground for the decking. Yeah, it will be expensive, but we're going to live here the rest of our lives, and we're worth it. We also aren't as young as we used to be.
What's a pony wall?
A "pony wall" is one that stands "short" usually 3 or 4' in height. Like the walls you see in a horse stall, that you can see over the top of. Basically, a solid fence.
This is similar to the polycarbonate we used on the roof of my greenhouse. My walls are 2x4 framing and vinyl windows.
Tuftex is the brand I had expected to use. Lowes changed vendors in the last year or so. and yes, you have to tape cut edges on the double wall stuff or it fogs, collects dust, then starts growing things inside the individual tubes/straws. Or so says the Mfg.
I looked at the info on the AmeriLux. It appears to be about the same.
Trust is often my problem.
Yes, it's very much an issue. As water runs down the panel, it will eventually take off the tape on the cut edges. Doesn't matter if it's a top edge or a bottom edge, stuff finds its way inside.
I have heard this called a knee wall.I didn't realize that my step-dad had built a pony wall as a divider between the hallway and the living room. We always called it "the book case."
