Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

We got our first measurable snow yesterday. I can't recall a year when we've had measurable snow on the ground as our first snow. It's always been flakes in the air that melt on contact.

More snow over night, and some of the back roads were slippery in some spots, thanks to a low of 23°. I had to go to the chiropractor. I was a bit nervous, but everything was fine by the time I got to the next county. There is a huge difference between the road maintenance in our county and the next one to the west.

I'm very grateful that hubby got the Falcon plow running again. That was a long exercise (since June) in frustration.

The snow is so pretty!
I do not handle cold very well anymore due to Raynards. DH helps me with the chickens on the coldest days.

I see a blanket of frost out my window. I think it only made 34f last night. Supposedly there were a few snowflakes flying. I did not see them. lol I was asleep and warm.

We broke records - colder than anticipated. Mid 20s. But already in the upswing, tonight will be warmer (barely) than projected yesterday. 32 instead of 30.

No plumbing damage. All the plants were covered (but not candled) - will know by Thursday if they took a hit. Ground was warm and relatively wet. I'm expecting none, except to the tops of the bananas and the asparagus.
