She is a buff orpington, 8 weeks old. It almost looks like dried blood to me, but they were definitely not there this morning, and I'm not sure if the blood would dry that fast. She had black specks a day or two ago, and they seemed to go away on their own. What do you think? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply, she hasn't been outside yet today, but maybe there' residual dirt inside. I tried wiping, but she' very skiddish. Maybe once I can get some help.

Chickens get poop on everything! or if they get a little wet drinking, things have a way of sticking to their feathers. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about wiping it off if it is causing stress to your girl unless you really think there's a cut in there somewhere and need to get a better look.

I feel kind of dumb, I just saw another one forage through the pine shavings and came back up with black on their beak. There must be something on the pine rubbing off on them. I'm sure it will come off when they dust bathe. Thanks for your help.
