Hi I have a cream crested legbar that hadn’t laid yet. Today she was acting a little under the weather -I followed her around and found that she was hiding under a tarp on a hay bale when I picked her up to move her to a warm place I saw there was a little blue egg left behind - but it was cold so it was not from today - so I guess she has started laying. Then I put her in a nesting box thinking maybe she just needed to do that and actually wasn’t under the weather. But then when I came back out she had a long white thing hanging out of her -I don’t know what prolapsed vent looks like so I was looking that up when an egg yolk came out and then she walked away. Does this happen sometimes? Is this a bigger problem? They have started free ranging most of the day in the backyard and I worry they haven’t been eating enough of their pellets -could it be because of that aka not getting enough calcium? Is this an emergency that I need to take her to a vet? Thank you so much for your advice.
