Strangest/Funniest Places Your Free Range Hens Lay

Laying eggs in the frying pan - that would be great! No one has laid on the sleeper since DH took the eggs. But I have a Welsummer and EE that are laying somewhere... I haven’t seen eggs from them in over a week. Tomorrow when I’m home, I’ll let them out later than usual and see if I can follow them.

I bred a pink-y/purple egg layer

with a dark green egg gene rooster and got the grey egg below.

I found a yard nest of 2 dozen in a 5 gallon bucket with 4 inches of rusty nails I pulled reclaiming some wood. I had been looking forward a yard nest over a week. Finally had to sit in side yard and waited for the egg song. I never even thought to look in the nail bucket when I searched to he lean-to.

I have a Dominique who lays in our horse hay trough. Never took a picture though, and I think I might have broken her of it by shutting her in the coop for a few days!

I can hear the hens complaining to each other now. "Gee, the nest box is nice and private ... but that straw? It's as hard as a rock!"

One time I found a stash in the center of a stack of Christmas wreaths in a Rubbermaid...

And the most time-saving hens EVER just happened to lay their eggs in a couple of egg cartons on a shelf in the garage.
