Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

What a beautiful house!! She's going to love it! We were in Louisville the last two days--finishing up shopping. I hope your daughter doesn't live near any of the malls. It was crazy!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

What a wonderful doll house. When I was little I was in England during WWII and of course we had nothing. We couldn't even have lights due to the blackout. Our house was opened up to house recuperating servicemen and one Christmas one of the American soldiers made me a doll house out of scrap wood and scrounged paint. The furniture was made out of scraps also and my mother made curtains, etc. To this day I remember the generosity of a wounded soldier that made a little girls Christmas one to remember. I never knew his name but I've never forgotten the gift. I couldn't bring it to America with me and had to leave it behind and I remember crying when I gave it to another little girl. I hope she cared for it as much as I did.

Ours is not an sweet a story but we made a doll house for our daughter and when her daughter was born, she told us we had a few years but wanted us to make her a doll house also. This Christmas is 20 years since she was given her doll house.

Alethea... this will be an ongoing process. She doesn't have beds yet! LOL I made her a couch, a coffee table and an end table out of plastic canvas. I also have a kitchen table but have not given it to her because I have not made the chairs yet. At 4 years old, she will have that house for many, many years to come and we can keep furnishing it for her.

Lovely furniture. I used to have the pattern for crocheted furniture but I haven't ssen the book in years so I may not have it anymore.

Well, I got a kitten. I can't take photos yet as she's still skittish. I have her in the spare bedroom with food, water and her litterbox and also her bed. She's doing well, using the litter box and eating. She is four months old, tiger striped and mixed calico. Today while I was quilting she came out from under the bed. I had been talking to her and she must have got surious. I made a little ball of yarn on a long piece of yarn and started pulling it on the floor and back to her and she couldn't resist. She took to it right away and we played for quite a while. She will let me pet her but not pick her up. She goes under the bed if I try. I think a few more days and she'll be more settled. Sadie hasn't met her yet but she knows there is something in the spare bedroom. I don't think she knows what a cat is. The kitten is used to dogs so that is a help but they'll be introduced gradually.

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year and hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

Betty-Congratulations on your kitten. What is her name? I look forward to pictures. I'm living with a cat and had to give her her own piece of string so I can crochet without her help.
