Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

I'm sorry Lealonna had to drop out and am offering merit to her and her family. When I left Eugene and my life with chickens, I considered dropping out of BYC. I decided not to, because that was when you all were discussing environmental concerns and I wanted to be with the environmentally concerned, crocheting, chicken-loving people here.

Since I'm a donor-only, my squares can be distributed as is good. Sunny's the mathematician and I could be wrong, but I think it will all work out.

LOL! Yeah it'll work out just fine. :)

I'm very glad you decided to stay and hang around with all of us Alethea. You would be sorely missed if you left.

When DH and I had to give up our flock awhile back (before we moved out here and got many more) I thought it would be hard to be on here seeing everyone else's chickens. It turned out to be quite the opposite. I have made some absolutely precious friends here on BYC and I still enjoyed sharing in everyone else's joys and challenges with their flocks, just like always. Maybe even more cause I still got to have my daily chicken fix. haha

Sunny-Does my memory serve me correctly that before you had the avatar hiding behind your husband, you had one hiding behind a German Shepherd? Is there a pattern here?

Yes! I've learned the art of perspective. Just like fishermen use this trick to make their fish look bigger in pics by holding them way out in front of them for the shot, I am trying to use anything I can shove forward in a pic to hide behind. It's workin' for me. Hahaha!

Hello ladies! I'm feverishly working on my squares to get them out on time. With my daughter being in the hospital and daily watch of the grands, its been very hectic. Daughter has an appt with new doc today and another ultra sound. Praying that things are good and she can come home! She is def feeling better now that she has meds for nausea and heartburn. I will post later this evening when I find out how her appt went. Thanks for asking everyone, I'll keep you all posted.
Sorry to hear we lost a swap partner. Hopefully things go well for her!

Hang in there Cathy! We understand how hectic things have been. I think we will all survive if you mail your squares a couple days late. We always have a few folks that are running behind anyway. We're used to it. Glad to hear your daughter is doing better! Thank you for keeping us updated. :)

I have to admit that I am looking forward to getting mine done soon though. Even though I have a few more days than the rest of you, cause I'll be waiting for the packages to arrive, I have been working hard to get them done soon. I really love the feeling of having them complete and ready to go. One less thing to worry about and all.

Thanks Kassaundra for stepping up to the plate to host a Fall Swap. I'm so glad you can do it. I know many people are interested in a Fall one so they could add to what they received last year and I am too swamped to host. I hope to be able to participate, but will wait until closer to the sign up dead line to see if i can do it. Love the idea of the 12 inchers thought. Would love to add those to my fall swaps from last year. I'm struggling to make it through this swap before I can think about the next.

Quote: LOL! Yea that's me too. I have 4 of the 12" left to do and 2 of the rectangles left. The applique part still seems to take me forever! I didn't stick to one pattern for them all though. That was my mistake. I like the butterflies, the flowers and the hearts though! It's too tough to decide on only one. Plus I've used 3 butterfly patterns, and haven't repeated a flower pattern yet. haha I don't think I'll do this again. It's much easier to stick with one pattern!

Thanks Sunny!!!! Well I think you are ahead of me. I ran out of cranberry working on a 12". I was just shy of having enough in that round. I tried a rectangle last night but got stumped, so I'll ry again later tonight. I think the rectangles will go faster if I can just get the pattern down. I stopped by Walmart and picked up a few skeins of Perfect Plum. It was on sale for $2.50!! Woohoooo!!!! Was thinking I could get the Cranberry color there but forgot that they don't carry the Vanna's Choice there.

I agree it's much easier to stick with one pattern, but I think part of the fun of the swap is trying out new patterns to see what you like. I love all the cute appliques you've added and definitely want to try them in the future.

Well I'm glad you or Alethea didn't drop out of BYC! You both would be sorely missed!!!!
