That's fantastic!!!! I better hurry up and get the rest of my yarn and pick a pattern so I can keep up.

I want to pick up my yarn this weekend too so I can start on a couple of patterns early. Sometimes it takes me awhile to find a pattern I like that works well and isn't too difficult to repeat for all the squares. I also want to do a 6"x12" square so folks can see what they look like. I want to do 2 sets so it would be smart to start early but knowing me I'll probably procrastinate til 2 weeks before they're due and then crochet like mad to finish on time.

Found another pic of a classic granny square rectangle. You can see how the link that Kate posted starts this square off. The link that Kim posted shows how the different sized "squares" look in a finished piece.

Hope you all have a great evening. Tomorrow is gonna be super busy but I'll still check in sometime (later in the day most likely).

G'night all!

I have to tell you,, my students that haunt this site are having fits lol! They saw "6 x 12" square and wanted me to tell you that a rectangle can't be a square, but a square can be a rectangle,,, so 6 x 12 is a rectangle,,, then another was reading one of the pattern sites and listening to a video and said they are "Grannies" not Granny Squares,, so it's a Granny Rectangle or a Rectangular Granny,,,,, am I going to miss this class???? LOL Tomorrow is their last day,,, I need my summer!!!!

Thanks another picture guide! That's cool! I found some rectangle patterns in a few of my books. Leisure Art's ~ 99 Granny Squares To Crochet and Beyond The Square Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman. Not sure when I'll have time to try them, but can't wait. I think I want to check out the other yarn colors I couldn't find at Walmart first. YAY!!!!!

LOL!!! Yes tell them math was my major so I am very aware of that! That's why I put the word "square" in quotation marks to let folks know it is a quote from other sites and not what I would have named them for sure! But having been a math major I do cringe every time I type it!!! haha
Quote: I bought mine today! I'm so looking forward to trying new stuff out! I didn't get near the variety of colors you all are getting but I bought 5 of the colors off the list. That is plenty!

I went looking locally tonight and all Wally World had was the Caron-bone. I'll either go to Lancaster or order on line for what I want. It was hot here today-105 and no wind but it's supposed to cool down again in a few days.
