Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Thanks Sunny & Alethea!

Oh I like that description of finding jewels in the sand. Alethea you should just go ahead and be on the receiving end as well after putting so much hard work into making them. If you have to move again and it doesn't match your new place then you can make something else out of them, like a bag or you could connect them and donate the whole afghan to an organization. I love how your spring square afghan turned out and don't blame you for taking it with you. My spring squares are all still in their ziplock bags in their mailing box.

Smitty-Nice square.I'm coming to like colors in the center of neutrals. It's like finding jewels in the sand. I've come across popcorns while looking for hats, shawls and squares. They're everywhere. That's why I think it would be good to know how to make them.

If we have 12 including me, then it's 11 per set. I'm just donating this time. I know I said that last time and changed my mind, but if i move again I'm taking my Spring square bedspread/afghan with me.
I agree with Kim! I love that description!!! I also think you should go ahead and receive since you like to donate things you make but it's up to you. I did forget you were receiving only.
Thanks Sunny & Alethea!

Mine too. I figured I'd wait til after one more swap after this one then I'd have enough for a nice sized afghan.

So far everyone has great squares! I have taken all mine apart. We have several new fires popping up but the one at Ruidoso is almost 90% contained, the one that has been burning since May and has burned over 500,000 acres is around 80% contained. We have lost in the neighborhood of 350 homes and over 300 other buildings. The one that started a week ago in Horse Canyon is n the edge of a major fire last year, and burned for a couple of days before being spotted. We have had many fires out here due to the fireworks, but no word on catching the arsonist.

Kate~ I've taken my share apart as well and need to take a few more apart. I'm just slowly plugging along on a pattern I've done before to get me in the groove. The center of my unraveled attempted rectangle makes a nice bookmark.

I am so sorry about all the fires in your area. I hope they can become totally abolished soon.

Sunny~ Are you thinking of making one big afghan with ALL your different swap squares? I can't decided what I'll do with mine.

What kind of plans does everyone have for the holiday?

Smitty-That is very nice. I like the circles on circles. you've been making lots of squares. Is the queen of procrastination relinquishing her throne? I hope it works out between Norman and the other cockerel. He sure was a cute chick.

It is kind for you all to invite me to receive squares and I appreciate the reasons you gave. It really is best I don't do it. I need to keep my possessions minimal. I have lots of yarn and can make other things for organizations, etc. Please just accept that I'm making the squares for you and that it is enough to be in this fine circle of chicken-loving hookers.

I'm half way there. I now have 6 complete. I'll post a pic of the one I finished today when I get a chance. Norman is still beautiful. Actually all 3 of the silkies are adorable. Cute lil fluff balls.
