Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Hello Swappers~

I took my swap crochet bag with me a few days ago to DD's dentist apt. Actually I take it with me every where regardless if I get a chance to pull out my yarn & hook. Anyway while I was sitting there waiting for her I was able to almost finish my # 20 ~ 6" square for the swap. I picked it back up again last night to add the last 2 rounds, so I finally have one set complete. ~YIPEEEEEE~

Now I can focus on learning a new 12" or rectangle pattern for set number 2. Hmmmm... we'll see how that goes!

Of course non of my tails are tucked or woven in yet (hate that part) and none are tagged and bagged. Oh yea.... I was looking at all the completed ones and noticed that I managed to use all the colors, except Royal Sparkles.

Quote: Sunny~ Awwww!!! You are too sweet!!!

You know I'm just feeding my BYC addiction need. I really love the crochet sect & swaps. I'm so sorry about all your internet issues. I hope the new stronger device will work for you. You have been doing a great job despite all your lack of internet and all the tech difficulties. Thanks again for hosting!!!

Kate~ Looks like everyone has given out so many cute ideas for the kids to try. Let us know how it goes. Did you get a chance to try a flower square yet?

Alethea~ Glad you had a great retreat!

Does anyone else have pics to share????

Does anyone else use liquid stitch to secure their tails? I also crochet them into the next row so the only free tails I have left are from the last color change/row.

It is fabric glue, dries clear and flexible, machine washable and drycleanable. When I complete my last stitch I cut the thread making a couple of inch long tail, then draw the thread through and make the loop small, the size of the glue tip, squirt a tiny amount of glue to the inside of the loop and pull to tighten this means the glue is inside the "knot". If this isn't the last round I lay the thread along the top of the piece and crochet the tail into the base of the new row.

Cool!!! I've never heard of using it that way either. One of the reasons I so love this site....I learn something new all the time. Thanks for the tip. I'm getting better at crocheting the tails in as I go, but looks like I have A LOT of stays this swap.
