Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Kat- Beautiful rectangle

Kassaundra-I always expect to be taking things apart when I start. Somehow, the three steps forward and two steps back does move along.

The weekend was fine, but I've taken to closing the windows in my room and running an air purifier. I didn't expect to look forward to getting back to Berkeley because of smoke. But then, there could be an earthquake. I told this to someone who told me a story about a man who wanted to live in the safest place he could find, no natural distasters. He chose an island in the Pacific... called Iwo Jima.
Yep, translates to... there is no such place.
Lavender Blue, Plum Perfect with an Ivory border:
Very pretty!!!

Well I took my swap crocheting w/ me to DH's dentist apt and worked on a 12" square. I got about 3 rounds done on it while waiting for him. Maybe I can pick it back up later tonight to finish it.

Smitty-Good for you. One of the things I like about squares is their portability.

Leolanna-I'm back in Berkeley. My second set has fourteen squares finished and two started. I think, between you and me, we have enough for a set +. I hope to get to Joanne's soon and finish the two squares.

Thanks Alethea! Me too! Last night I was at a Girl Scout Leader meeting and one of the leaders was crocheting a baby afghan while listening to our agenda. I love how most crochet projects are so easy to take along every where.

I know you love Mt Shasta, but I'm glad you are back in Berkeley away from the smoke.

Just checking in quickly before I crash. I went to the doc today and, to make a long story short, I have a massive ear infection that has spread to my glands etc. Never had an ear infection before so I didn't realize how serious they can get. I can't even move my jaw or head without horrible pain. Hope the meds kick it super fast! :(

Hope you all are having a better day than me... I'm sure I'll be fine in no time. Just need to let the medicine do it's work. I avoid antibiotics like the plague but this time they are a life saver! :)

Take it easy and I hope you feel better soon.

Sunny-You are in my mind and heart. Take care and be careful. Ear infections can affect balance, too. This is a good time to take antibiotics. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Kate. I hope so too.

Thanks Kim. I have been sleeping most of the day.

Thanks Alethea. Yes I am surprised by how much this is affecting me in different ways. Now I have more empathy for folks going through the same thing!

Just stopping by for a quick hello. We are getting lots of much needed rain from what is left over of tropical Isaac. Makes for a messy chicken run, but the plants & trees look happy.

I'm still working on the same 12 " square.

I'm hoping to be able to focus a little on the swaps over the weekend. DD wanted to come home this weekend so I gladly picked her up from college yesterday afternoon. She has lots of homework, but it's sooooooo nice to have her home.

Makes me Happy! Since the weather isn't great outside for typical holiday grilling I'm making a few lasagnas right now. (veggie/ tofu for DD & veggie/ground turkey for DH & I).

Sunny ~ I hope you are feeling better. Once when I was a teenager my mom took us kids to swim in the local bay not knowing it was polluted and I got the worst case of swimmers ear. I remember the Dr having to insert meds on a cotton ball with a long stick into my ear and it was so painful. I was miserable! I hope the antibiotic are working their magic. I feel same way about meds, but I do take them only in extreme cases as needed. Get well soon!
