You also may want to think about a good hidey hole for an extra key, just in case that one time you don't bring your key b/c you are only going to be a second, this doesn't happen again.

LOL! Yes Hubby and I are talking about that now.You also may want to think about a good hidey hole for an extra key, just in case that one time you don't bring your key b/c you are only going to be a second, this doesn't happen again.
You are very welcome!![]()
Well the last package came today!!! HookedOnStitch has sent us some beautiful squares! I will take pics and start sorting tomorrow. There are so many now! Not sure how long it will take but I'll keep you all posted. I should have them out within the next 2 days.![]()
I had an interesting day today. I was out feeding animals at 8:00 this morning and the back door slammed shut on me and I have no idea how but it locked on me! The lock has been weird since we moved in (I'm sure before that) and it is difficult to work but it has never locked on me. When I first went to turn it, it started to give but then wouldn't turn the rest of the way and when I turned the knob the other way it clicked tight and then wouldn't budge no matter how hard I jiggled it!
I tried to find a way to break in. Something I've always been able to do in every other house I've lived in but this house was locked up tight as a drum. I guess that's good news. I went to the one neighbor we've met, to use the phone, but they weren't home and the other neighbor's dog wouldn't let me get near their property (we live out in the sticks and most of the houses are down very long driveways so no chance of anyone seeing me from the street) so I decided to walk to my friend's house that is 2 & 1/2 miles away. This may not seem like much for some of you but I am disabled due to my back and by the time I got to my friend's house I was in quite a bit of pain.
Well this friend of mine has a key to my house and is a serious homebody and hates to leave the house if she doesn't have to but this one time (of course) she happened to not be there. When I got there and realized she wasn't home I actually broke down and started crying!!! Now you all don't know me very well so you have no idea how out of character that is for me but trust me... I don't cry. Well rarely anyway. There was nothing left to do but walk back home. I sat in the dirt, on the side of the road, when I got tired and just kept going til I finally reached home then sat out on the porch for several more hours til my Dad finally came home at 1:30 to check on me when I didn't show up for lunch with him and my brother.
By that time I was pretty parched and hungry (I went to feed the puppies before I ate breakfast and even got myself something to drink) so I was very happy to see the two of them drive up! Ah well, lesson learned. From now on I never step foot out of the house without my keys and my phone!!!
Thanks Beth! I plan to rest my back most of tomorrow. Just can't push it any further right now. I'd say getting old is the pits but this has been a problem since I was 23.Oh no! I'm so glad your dad came by. Take care of your back and REST!!
LOL! DH did that once! I don't know how since the latch is on the outside of the door but it slid just enough to lock him in tight! Luckily he had his phone with him and he called me to ask to be let out of the coop. hahaha That makes a great story for a cocktail party though. I suppose this one will too some day (once we embellish for humor's sake anyway).Oh Sunny that sounds so miserable! I am so sorry! (((HUGS)))I'm so glad that you are ok.![]()
Yes a hidden key is a must for us at this house. Once I went outside late at night to shut the pop door to the coop and DH didn't know I was out there and he locked the house up for the night not knowing I was outside and he went upstairs to bed. I banged & banged on the door but he couldn't hear me. Thank goodness for the spare b/c I would have been sleeping w/ the chickens.![]()
On another occasion I got stuck inside my coop. I don't know what happened to the door knob, but the door was just stuck and I couldn't open it. I really didn't think I was going to have to sleep with my chickens.![]()
Yes we decided to get one of those Realtor lock boxes. That should be easy enough. That will give us both peace of mind.Bless your heart, I used to accidentally lock myself out all the time. We got a coded dead bolt, and now I can't get locked out .... Just have to remember the code. Was worth every penny!
My mom accidentally let one of my Great Pyrenees in the house while she was feeding for me once and when she went out JoJo jumped up on the glass door and her paw slid the lock down and locked my mom out with her inside. By the time I got home hours later she really wanted out and we discovered my keys were locked inside. I tried to break into my house and discovered it's very secure lol. The only chance was through the kitchen window over the sink so I was trying to slide it open when a deputy saw me on the ladder trying to get in. He knew me, offered to help, and finally managed to get it to slide open. JoJo (164lbs) came over the sink and took him off the ladder going through the window and knocked him cold when he hit the ground. A lot of people now have keys to my house.
OMG my female shepherd was wandering in and out of the house while I was feeding the puppies! I bet she did hit that stupid lock. She was outside when the door slammed shut so at least she wasn't locked inside all that time!My mom accidentally let one of my Great Pyrenees in the house while she was feeding for me once and when she went out JoJo jumped up on the glass door and her paw slid the lock down and locked my mom out with her inside. LOL If this story keeps someone else from getting locked out I guess it wasn't a loss after all.Oh my gosh! A Great Pyrenees could do some serious damage knocking someone off a ladder! Ouch!
I'm thinking I'll start carrying a key with me when I'm out in the yard lol.
