Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

I've been pretty free from abuse lately. Probably because Chocolate and Little Bootie have been taking their ire out on the new ducklings. Even caught Bootie nipping one of the little ones during picture time yesterday. I'll have to show her this next time she's getting mouthy with me at treat time! Although she'll probably just give me the same smug look.

I know and I had picked out the two brown ones but they swore the black ones were too and you are right, it does have the bib which they were just total black.

They were probably Dark Campbells. Easily mistaken for Cayuga ducklings the first few days before they get more color. I would agree the above duckling is probably a Black Swedish.

Enjoy that few days of no abuse it will be back 😂
It won’t be a purebred cause my Swedish girls are silver splash. Mom and dad were both silver
Buff Swedish the mom was blue dad was silver no idea how that happened a few in her flock carried a buff gene
My drakes are silver / blue and blue both boys have a touch of buff in their feathers
One other girl that looked like a blue when little has medium grey in her feathers but more of a tan as majority. The lady I got them from doesn’t own a buff duck and bought the parents as Purebred adults
She hatched over 100 babies now and only one was full buff a few get buff or tan in the mix Also different shades of greys
But I do have a black with reddish brown markings that’s came from my pekin mom and pekin -khaki dad
She is my only girl to have black in her
This baby will be a Swedish cross for sure just trying to figure out who the mom could be
Buff Swedish
Silver Swedish or my mix of pekin / pekin khaki
I added pics of the 3 girls along with the one drake I see mate them

Well stella already has me under her wings
She cries till she sees me
I try to get chores done and she lays on my feet
Looks like I’m not going to get a thing done
She is scared of my big ducks and way too big for the little ones
She looks like she has imprinted on you. You will be her best friend forever. She sure is a cutie pie!!!

I’m so glad I found this thread and I know I’m not alone in the struggles!

I have 11 geese, 6 of which are ganders. I’ve been through hormonal battles, love triangles, egg thievery, everything with my geese, but the difference between my geese and my ducks is that I can reason with my geese or at least understand the “whys” of what they do.

This is the shitsparkle that’s been terrorizing my days.

One little buff drake that’s made it his life’s mission to make every waking moment of mine into hell.

It started all cute. Following me around like a devoted puppy, weaving between my feet like a kitten when I’d stop walking.

That quickly changed and now I have a repressed ankle obsessed Victorian fiend that haunts my every move. Hovering in my shadow, chasing me wherever I go, biting at my shoes, my legs, my ankles, my clothing, ambushing me and tripping me. I’ve actually stepped on him a few times while trying to avoid tripping over him. I’ve dropped everything in my horror to see if he’s alright, afraid I’d smooshed him for good, only to have my fear replaced with anger as the little shit, completly fine, then bites me.
I’ve spilt feed and water buckets because of his osession with my feet. I’ve slipped and fallen on ice, on mud, while walking down banks because of this little monster.

The only think he respects is my geese at the moment, they’ve gotten into the habit of blocking him from me.

But he’s always there, lurking, watching for his next opportunity to get me.
