Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

I found a great all rubber net at our Walmart in the fishing department a couple of years ago. It is a Godsend. My other nets all got tangled in their wings and feet, this one has no tangling to it at all. It's so much easier on the ducks.
I only use the net to move them out of the pond, not catch them. Whatever side I'm on the nutters move to the other side and I can't reach them. LOL

This pond was put in for me for my first Mother's Day for some goldfish. Years later it became the duck area. The rocks were free and delivered here. Worked fine for fish. Hate them for the ducks. Husband said it's too much work to remove them now. I agree. LOL
So I need the net for the length to shoo them out.

Mine are almost 6 weeks old but no quacks yet so I don't know what to think. I am hoping for at least 2 girls but I know my luck. If the eggs came from my one Mallard duck she usually throws off all boys. I am going to catch them again at 8 weeks old and listen to them. They are skittish of me but come within 6 feet for treats. They do go back in the pen. I spread my arms and make the sound of a Hawk all the while telling them to go in the pen. If it wasn't for the privacy fence between me and the neighbors I am sure I would be committed by now, lol.
My 5-6 week olds I can tell by voice
Take a video of holding a couple
They will be as loud as they can be fit boys it’s not very loud 😆

I love the pond!

Sometimes when I need to clip wings or am going to rehome one I use my net. Not always. There are so many places they can go that I can't reach them unless I have it. I don't like to use it but out of necessity I will if I have to. They can be stubborn for sure, lol.

Wow, soooooo pretty. If I had that mine would probably all get Bumble foot from the rocks. I have never had a case of it using sand for the base of my pen so I am Blessed by that.

There is an area/space without the rocks they mostly use to get in and out of the pond. The area around the pond is sand. Haven't seen any bumble foot in the five years we have had ducks, thankfully. I worry about broken legs. That hasn't happened yet either, thankfully.

So happy to hear that your ducks are smart ones. It's a beautiful pond and I am sure that they love it.

The originals may be smart, but I'm not so sure about the newbies. LOL
We're getting older and moving all those heavy rocks (and what to do with them) is a problem. LOL I would prefer flat pavers to hold the pond liner.
I totally get that. Every time I move sand I think to myself, what the heck am I doing???? I hurt my foot trying to take the lids off of some of my duck waterers. I ended up with a boot on for over a week and then after the MRI it showed no break which was a blessing for me. No boot now because I never needed it in the first place. What we don't do for these ducks!!! lol
