Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

So this is the only way I can get Ping to eat: sitting him right in front of his food and water bowls and putting the other ducks food and water immediately on the other side of the pen. When they come up and eat, Ping will eat. Plus it seems Ping's medicated food is tastier than the other ducks food. Here is BFF, O Pato, eating Ping's food through then pen, cheeky boy!

Pingy is eating just fine now, but he still can't walk and I am losing hope that he will ever walk again. He is happy just to sit around in an inflatable bed as long as his pals come up to see him when he calls. It's nearly 5 weeks and he has water therapy 3 times a day, when he moves his legs normally, and he sits balanced in the water. But on land, he can only get up on his hocks using his bill and his wings..

So sorry that he can't walk but he is so lucky to have someone that loves him so much and takes good care of him,

Yes I know, I had a ton of feathers broken off of my Hens and rehomed 4 of my big boys and traded for the 4 little Call Ducks. I call them the Mafia boys though because I caught 3 on top of one of my Mallard hens. Off to jail they went, lol.
They can be nasty
I find my blue Swedish is my most passive
He doesn’t care what other drakes are doing
He never joins in
My father and son spend all day trying to one up the other one
It’s kinda funny to watch
Dad will run over and mate one of his sons ladies then the son will run over and go for mom
They chase one another away from their girls
Never gets serious but it’s everyday day they do this
At least they aren’t tag teaming any girls instead defending them 😆
Baby 2 hatched. Looks like another Swedish cross. Oh captain you are a busy boy :)

This is the abuse I deal with every morning, pre flight checks and all. None of them launched off in the video, but sure tried till a gander put her back in line. I can whistle and one goose will come to me leading the rest of the flock, if a duck gets out of line @1:10 you will see a gander heard her back in.
My stella does this with my younger ducks she had grown up with
I think it’s so neat that they keep them From straying off

Such beautiful babies. I am sending my young Mallard Drakes down the road this week along with the father to them. It will be easier on all of my hens if I keep the smaller drakes instead. They do a lot less harm even though one is still able to mate them as that is how I got my Swedish drake duckling 10 weeks ago.
